Question about JVC AV-48WP74 48" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

Your fixya solution

I read your post from the 18th and I have a similar issue with the same TV. I was watching the TV and it went gray, I heard a repetitive clicking as if it was trying to power up then a thumping from the speakers. I replaced the convergence board a year ago, but the symptoms were completely different. At that time the TV would power on no problem but the convergence was off and could not be adjusted. Even though the symptoms are much different, you still think it is the convergence board?

Is it a difficult to replace the convergence amplifier modules on a Mitsubishi VS 50609 TV?

Your convergence has failed. This is a very common problem on most projection tv sets. You can read about it here on fixya using this link

My tv came on but the picture was dark. I heard a kind of snap and the red lights started flashing the the tv went off. I tried turning it back on and the lights started flashing right away without the tv...

The snap you heard was likely an electrolytic capacitor blowing.
There's a good chance you may have other failing electrolytic capacitors as well either in the power section or the inverter section or both. (as well as ones that have blown completely and may be missing all together)
Any caps in these sections that look bulged at the top, or bulged/leaking at the bottom need to be replaced.
If you repeatedly turn it off and on, eventually it'll probably stay on, but every time you turn it off, the TV will get harder and harder to start up until one day it just won't.
Sometimes you have to do the opposite to start it up and unplug it for some time and then try again.

If you aren't tech savvy, don't worry, read the rest of this solution and watch the videos. (especially the third one)

If you are handy with a soldering iron and can identify the power supply and inverter / FM section for the backlights, an inexpensive handful of capacitors will likely fix you right up.
Match the capacitance on the capacitors. Go over voltage if you can, and still have them fit.
IE - it's not a bad idea to replace a 10V cap with a 16V or 25V or even a 50V, but don't replace a 680uF cap with a 500uF or a 1000uF (unless you are positive it's only doing ripple filtering, and even then, you should go OVER, not under the uF rating).

Most of the caps that go are 10V 1000uF or 3300uF.

I found some great videos of the procedure (for many Samsungs with the same issue) on youtube.

As you can see, this issue spans plasma TVs, as well as large and small LCD TVs and monitors.
The parts are cheap, and skill required is minimal.
I get my caps at www.digikey.com for about a buck a piece plus shipping, and they usually take one business day to arrive.

Tv went out after loud pop and has clicking noise does not turn on

If you have a Sony DLP, then the loud pop you heard is your lamp.  The lamps last approx. 4K-6K viewing hours.  Read your manual for replacement part number to reorder and very simple to replace yourself.

It sounds like the lamp is definitly bad.
Look at it and more than likely it is broken.
The lamp is located in the front of the set. The bottom front is a cover that has a dial on each side of the back of the sets that can be turned by hand (counter clockwise) holding the front panel in place.
There is a metal strip that is holding a door in place and can be removed.
The lamp is being held in place by a screw that needs to be removed with an allen wrench.
There are several places that you can buy lamps online.
