Question about Dell Dimension B110 PC Desktop

The sound from my Dell B110 becomes garbled when I try to use another application. I've checked and its not a speaker problem. Can you help me?

Sounds like a driver issue.
Go to http://support.dell.com/ and try reinstalling what ever the latest official sound card driver they have for your model.

Some issues, and a reason why people some times end up with the wrong driver:
1) Your Dell might come with several different sound card options.
You might have to open it up to see what card you actually have.

2) Some times the Windows updater will try to (or you manually allow it) upgrade your sound driver with one isn't right.
Why it's best to at least try the one Dell says to use.

The speaker has become garbled. Listening is possible but difficult.


The speakers cone usually made from polyethelene or fiber can be your problem the only way to fix it is to replace it with a new speaker. Over time cones become brittle and dry out or for a better word rot or decay. This causes crackeling in your speakers sound quality. Hope this helps you out.

I bought a dell dimension B110 at a garage sale. The Sound is scratchy/garbled. I downloaded and reinstalled the sound driver, but that didn't work. Please help.

How to troubleshoot speaker


Hello sir, Hi!, the garble is caused by two things, 1. a bad speaker, 2. a bad power amplifier IC.

To test the Speaker,
Remove the speaker out from the TV, (this needs disassembly stuff) test it using any available portable amplifier. or radio, OR replace the speaker with the same size.

If this does not solve the garble sound, replace the power amp IC. (this really needs skills in electronics.) thats it.

I need to hook speakers up to my Dell B110 computer.


2 things are needed to get sound from your speakers:

1-wiring connecting your speakers to a socket to the back of the computer. (The spot they need to plug in to ON YOUR COMPUTER is a small light green circular socket. The other end of the plug you plug in here should run to one of your speakers *usually the right side speaker-the right speaker should then have separate wiring to connect the left speaker.)

2- A source of power.
Some speakers use their own power source and plug in to a power outlet - your wall. Other types have a USB type plug and plug into a USB port in your computer and that is how THOSE get their power.

Those are the basics of sound setup. Some computers are equipped with more complicated setups such as surround sound, subwoofers, digital and more. Reply if you need more help, I will try to assist you further.

No matter what I do/change I cannot get any windows sounds/alerts for startup/closedown or Outlook Express email. Tried systemrestore,did not help, tried changes in conrol panel still no sound except more...


asuming your sound card and speakers are working.
From the control panel goto sounds and audio devices, double click,select sounds, under sound scheme select windows default, u can then go down the program events and select the sounds u want.

Take a pair of head phones and plug it into the jack that your speakers are pluged into. If you have sound coming out of the headphones then the problem is with your speakers. If you continue to get static then it is probably your onboard sound.

i would 1st confirm that the rattling is not comming from the speakers. hook different speakers up to test. if continue to garble, the boardmay have a short. ebay the description audio board for dell ???? you may find it.
