Question about Wacom Bamboo (MTE450K1) Graphic Tablet

Open Question

My tablet has been acting strange, lately. I've had my Bamboo Tablet for a little over a year now, and it started acting weird yesterday. When I plugged it in, it took a while for the blue light to come on. When it finally did, and I picked it up to bring it closer to me, it turned off. It's been turning on and off over and over again, randomly. I've re-installed the latest driver several times, and it still didn't work. I even installed the driver before that. After that, it worked until I turned off the computer for the night. When I turned it back on this evening, it was doing the same thing. Answers are very much appreciated, thank you!

SOURCE: My Intuos3 Wacom Tablet doesn't work...sometimes

I had a similar problem with the tablet not picking up the pen until I waved it around (in range) for a few seconds.  I realized later that the slow response time was due to me having the usb plugged in to the monitor instead of directly into the computer...  I switched and all is fine now.

SOURCE: Bamboo fun tablet pen not working

After having almost the same problem (I did not check to see if the eraser was working), I changed the nub (my bamboo came with a little bundle with tree of them. You can change it by bitting the tip to get it out and them inserting a new one.)

The thing is, it did not work at all at the time, but after the week end it came back...

Not much help...

SOURCE: My Tablet pen wont release, it acts like im clicking and holding

I'm just gonna pass on a email from Tech Support I recieved.

"It sounds as though your pen has pressure in proximity. This is present when the tip sensor of your pen is stuck down causing the pen to think that it’s clicking before it’s even touching anything. What you may want to try would be to remove the nib from the tip end of the pen, it pulls straight out with a pair or tweezers or your teeth, and leave that out overnight with the pen left on its side. Place the nib back in the morning and if the issue persists then you may have a defective pen tip."

The rest consists of personal info and warranty advice so I'll leave it there.

I am trying to get my CTL-460 Wacom Bamboo Pen Tablet to work on my new computer, a Toshiba Satellite, which uses Windows 8. I have attempted to download the drivers multiple times, including from the

When loading the latest driver for it from Wacoms site, be sure to change the compatibility on the EXE file to "Windows 7". If that doesn't work, you will need to look at purchasing a newer model. The CTL-460 Wacom Bamboo Pen Tablet was only compatible with XP and Windows 7. Newer Microsoft operating systems are not supported on that product from Wacom.

Go to Control Panel, and open bamboo properties. There you select the "pen" tab. In the pen tab you will see tracking. Select pen mode and details. You can map the pad there. After mapping pen mode try it in mouse mode as well. Best of luck!

That happened to me yesterday. What I did was I went to the wacom site here: http://www.wacom.com/downloads/drivers.php, selected my tablet make and operating system, and downloaded the driver update. I installed it and as soon as it was done my pen started working again. Hopefully this works for you too!

Wacom Bamboo Fun Pen isnt working correct

I think you dropped the pen on its tip and broke the little ferrite sensing core.  You can try to repair it by gluing the core back together - it worked for me.  For detailed instructions on how to do it, go here: http://wishidknownthat.blogspot.com/2009/04/fixing-wacom-bamboo-pen.html  or you can try to swap the core for the eraser and the tip (more involved - you would need to be very good with a soldering iron to attempt this).  Either way - it's unfortunate that the pen is so fragile and that the user manual doesn't really warn you of this.
Good luck!

Pen Tip Not Working

I had the same problem and called Wacom Customer Care at 360-896-9833... I was informed that the pen was defective/ broken and needs to be replaced. This can be caused by being dropped and such. I was told that i should keep the pen on the stand or a eyeglasses case when not in use.
If your tablet is under a year old, warranty will cover the cost of the pen with proof of purchase. Other than that, you will need to purchase a new pen (about $29.99 from Wacom & online).

Unfortunate, but great to know.
