There is physical damage to the gears inside, causing the lens to not be able to focus correctly (in and out action of the lense barrel).

May need to have it sent in for service:

What attatchments do i need to download pictures from my olympus fe-310 digital camera to my computer

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

How to transfer pictures from internal memory to memory card?

In the menu, there should be an entry for "copy" giving you that choice.

My camera was working fine for about a year. Then one day i turned it on and the screen was black but it shows the grid and date and time also it shows the menu and the differnet scene selections. If i...

Take the camera andturn off the flash. Point it toward you and take a picture. Look in the lens to see if you see the shutter activate. If you dont see this work, then your shutter may very well be stuck.

There isn't really a home fix for it and the cost of having a professional repair it is just as much as a new camera.

If you do see the shutter activate please comment below and I will be more than happy to troubleshoot your problem further!

Cheers!

Lens blocked? Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS, recently water damaged

A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open).

To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see the following for further info and a simple fix that may help:

Olympus Fe-310, lens is messed. Possible sand in it but not sure.

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ... Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 50% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try: http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html

Camera won't turn on

Fixed! Several people I've described the problem to asked me if I dropped the camera, and I honestly did not remember dropping it, but I could've just forgot that it happened. Later, (after this was posted) it slipped out of my hand and fell to the carpeted floor. When I picked it up, I noticed that the lens shutter had moved (to be closer together). I turned it on, and after a few automatic adjustments, the camera was working like normal again! Perhaps the same thing that broke it, fixed it!

Today I bought a camera Olympus FE-310. i'd like to know how i can set the shutter speed and the optimum aperture. and I'd like to know if cn take black and white pictures with this camera. Thanks guys,...

Hi - You can download the manual by clicking the link underlined in blue below:

FE-310

Other info here.

This is a fully automatic camera and you cannot directly set the speed or aperture. Try using the "scene" modes.

Please take a moment to rate this solution & let us know if the information given was useful to you - Good Luck!

Blurry pictures....

reset the camera and try taking pictures using by soft pressing the shutter instead of a hard press... on digital cameras, hard fast pressing will cause the picture quality to be not as good

I dropped my camera and now the pictures are funny...

What you describe is the symptom of a stuck shutter. The shutter is inside the lens and must close in order for the image sensor to properly record the image. Yours is stuck open, and that is why you see the lines across your images. When a stuck shutter results from an impact it usually requires full disassembly and manual re-setting of the delicate shutter blades. This problem would require professional repair. Unfortunately damage from an impact is not covered by your factory warranty. You can find good repair services on the internet who can service your camera. David Millier Advance Camera Repair
