How do you transfer songs from the computer to an iPod or MP3 player? It is a Coby MP705.

For an iPod you have to use iTunes and then click on the iPod on the left side and Sync it. For almost every other MP3 player you can use Windows Media Player. Open it and go to the Sync tab on the top. I like to use a playlist that I've created and Sync that to my MP3 player. The Coby might work different but almost all MP3 players can Sync with Windows Media Player.

I can't get media player to sync with the ipod

Dear inarimi:
The iPod was not designed to sync with Windows Media Player; it only syncs with Apple's iTunes software. iTunes is a free program and can be downloaded from Apple's website. As you can imagine, Apple has no real reason to support Windows Media Player - their hardware is designed to work with their software.
There is only one solution I know of for those who prefer Windows Media Player to iTunes. A German company - MGTEK - has come up with a plug-in that allows the iPod to sync with Windows Media Player. The plug-in is not free, but you can try it out for 30 days at no charge. For details and download link, go to http://www.mgtek.com/dopisp/
