It sounds like you have a motherboard issue. You can try connecting another video card and see if that helps. If you do decide to reset the CMOS, there is a jumper that you can unplug that is near the CMOS battery. If you disconnect that jumper and then boot, that will reset the BIOS. Failing all that, you will have to replace your motherboard.

Sony vgn-bx540b bios master password

If you are not the one who set up the Bios password, your options are to keep guessing or reset the cmos.

To reset the cmos, open your laptop and look for a small, silver, circular battery. Make sure everything is unplugged and remove the battery. Then, simply place the battery back into the computer. This should reset the bios and allow you to access it.

Hope this helps!

How do I reset my bios setup password?

Dear spidertech

Bios password can be reset by taking the CMOS battery out or remove the connection pin and insert after 30+ seconds.

The CMOS battery is located on the motherboard you can see a button cell like this

Power on password problem

there are several ways on which you can reset the cmos in your pc, most common ways are removing the battery (like what you did) or doing a short circuit on the battery or reset pins. However there are some manufacturers now that use a different method, I had a dell PC before where the reset pins are already shorted, to reset it, I had to remove the jumper, power the device for 10sec, power it off then put the jumper back, kinda odd but I guess that how dell wants it, you can try that method as well. there are some that requires a key or before it could be reset like what I heard on some HP brand computers, the use has to call HP, then they ask for the serial or something then give ot generate a key. The best advise is to consult the documentation or vendor of your laptop for details on how to get your reset your laptop.

cheers,

Power problem

Hi Odek, You have to short the CMOS reset pins on the motherboard. You can find the location of these 2 or 3 pins on the motherboard manual. For Enisco's problem the monitor power cable is not properly earthed. You can either earthed it by connecting a wire from any conductive part of the monitor to a earth pin on the wall plug or something conductive near the monitor like a will sill. I would probable change the wall plug or the faulty power board. regards
