FIXED: PCL XL error when printing to a HP printer

I fixed this problem by installing the KB948046 Hotfix from Microsoft (thanks to Brent Follett from forums11.itrc.hp.com for pointing me in the right direction).

To download and install this hotfix, search for “hotfix KB948046” or go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948046 and click on “view and request hotfix downloads”.

You will be prompted for an email address, the URL for the hotfix together with a password will be emailed to that address.

Install the hotfix and reboot the system. The problem was fixed for me at this point.

I tried to print before rebooting, but that did not fix the problem, a reboot is essential.

More information:
I encountered this problem on a HP 2605 (laserjet) printer (HP2605) that was shared from a Windows Small Business Server 2003 with Service Pack 2 (SBS SP2).
When printing from networked machines the error was printed out on the printer. After installing the KB/948046 hotfix on the server only and rebooting the server, the problem was fixed.
I also installed other updates on the server before installing the hotfix using Microsoft Update.

I hope you found this useful and this fix works for you. Happy Hunting!

you may wish to reinstall the printer program that you have for that printer as well as confirming the software is in fact for that operating system.

The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction

it is a virus on your computer by the sound of it, to do a fresh install, when you initally turn the computer on, put the disc in and hit either F8 or F2, maybe F10, dependant on what it says on the inital start up screen, change the boot option to disk then you can reinstall

After downloading the software for Dell 3110cn8F6255 laser printer onto an Hp pavilion dv6000, I am recieving an error message when trying to print (Error relating to PCL emulation problems 016-720) I have...

go to dell.com and download the 64-bit driver
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?os=WV64&osl=EN&catid=-1&impid=-1&servicetag=&SystemID=PRN_LSR_3110CN&hidos=WLH&hidlang=en&TabIndex=

you can download just the driver and the updates.

for your information; there is "ISO" package. "ISO" is a CD image of the software. which you can downlaod and "image copy" on to a CD. that way you always have it. Windows Vista (I assume that is you have?) can burn the image file to a cd without additinal software.

RTHDCPL.EXE err

Error Message after Installing Security Updates 925902 and 928843 This afternoon (April 3rd, 2007) my Automatic Updates alerted me about a couple updates I needed to install, so I did. Upon rebooting the computer though I was confronted with the following error message
"RTHDCPL.EXE - Illegal System DLL Relocation"

"The system DLL user32.dll was relocated in memory. The Application will not run properly. The relocation occurred because the DLL C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\HHCTRL.OCX occupied an address range reserved for Windows system DLLs. The vendor supplying the DLL should be contacted for a new DLL."

Cause of Error Message

Turns out this error occurs when the Realtek HD Audio Control Panel by Realtek Semiconductor Corporation is installed. This is my built-in sound card on my computer.

The HHCTRL.OCX file that is included in the Security update 928843 and the User32.dll files that is included in Security Update 925902 have conflicting base addresses. When Windows loaded the HHCTRL.OCX file before it loads the User32.DLL file, the problem occurs.

The error occurs when the following third party programs or applications are installed on a computer with Windows XP Service Pack 2 installed.
Realtek HD Audio Control Panel
ElsterFormular 2006/2007
TUGZip
CD-Tag
Microsoft now has released a patch to correct the problems, you can go to the following link to download and install the patch for the patch :-)
