After starting my PC I only hear a peep

After starting my old Medion Desktop PC I only hear a long peep followed by 2 sec pause and 2 sec peep and so on. Does that indicate a memory problem?

Check that out. I believe that you are looking for the AMI bios beep codes. You can pair up the beep type with the error that you find on that page. That should give you a little more direction.

If you are getting long and short beeps it is possible that the graphic card on your system is not proper.

Either the graphic card is gone bad or it is not seated properly

Try to open the computer tower, disconnect the Graphic card and then see if it still beeps. If it does not beep after removing the graphic card try to reinstall the card and see if it is beeping. If the computer beeps even after reseating the graphic card then you will have to replace the graphic card.

Computer do not turn on

Can you hear any sound (cooler or peep), can you see any start logos? If no and your power cable is connected then your power supply needs to be changed.

Hi mos, Your board uses an AMI bios. You can see the specification here: http://www.ecsusa.com/ECSWebSite/Products/ProductsDetail.aspx?detailid=46&CategoryID=-1&DetailName=Specification&MenuID=1&LanID=9
AMI BIOS beep codes
1 short = DRAM refresh failure
3 short = Base 64K RAM failure As noted at this link: http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm
Suggest you remove your memory & re-seat one dimm at a time booting after each re-seat. If this is new memory insert old just to check board function. Shut down & try new memory. It wouldn't hurt to check against the manual pg. 6
2 DDR (184 pin, 2.5V) + 2
SDR (168 pin, 3.3V) DIMM sockets with a total capacity of 2
GB system memory
Need to test you memory? http://www.memtest.org/
Scroll down, about half way down the page to where you'll see............
** Memtest86+ V2.00 (08/02/2008) ** Typed in red. Pick you flavior.
Download - Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO (.zip) for CD OR
Download - Pre-Compiled package for Floppy (DOS - Win)

Computerwill not start

if you can't even access the bios, the first thing i'd do is to try and reload it. open your computer, find your motherboard, and find the little cmos switch.change it's position, wait a for 30 secs, the flip it back in the previous position. if your computer still won't start, then your motherboard is prolly faulty and you need to get a new one.

your ram can be removed by first pressing down the little switches on either side of the thingy that holds the ram, and then gently removing it. when you put in the new ram, make sure your pc is placed so that you're putting the ram in from above. then just gently squeeze it in and flip the switches back. you should hear a click.
