Question about Kenmore 3.8 cu. ft. HE3 Front Load Washer
Hi, check you door latch. When you open the door, there should be a black
square hole on the frame and a black round hole above it with a pin
sticking out. The pin is probably broken off and the door latch
assembly needs to be replaced.

If sound like a lid switch issue. Open the top of the washer to get an access to the lid switch(located near the doorframe). Look for a loose wire or a broken switch. In case there is no loose wire or broken switch, you should replace the switch. Good luck!

If the machine agitates, you probably have a bad pump. This is pretty straightforward repair, and I'm sure I can help you if you think you can do this yourself. Follow this link to a previous explanation on cabinet removal and you will find the pump right in front of you when you get the cabinet off. The part is relatively inexpensive to obtain from a local appliance part store. Changing is very simple. Hope this helps you :)

"F02" is a Long Drain error code. This is an indication that there's an obstruction somewhere in the drainage system. Most commonly, the drain pump reservoir needs to be checked and cleaned. The access screws are on the lower toe panel directly below the door in the FRONT of the washer. They are located under the bottom front edge of the panel. You may need to prop up the two front feet of the washer to access them (a 2x4 works well for this). The following link explains:
It does not take much to damage the pump impeller or motor. Since the error code is generated if the drain cycle exceeds 8 minutes, if the pump is damaged and can't pump at the required volume, the error code will continue to appear until the pump is replaced. If the pump requires replacement, the following link explains how:
Replacements can be purchased online at any of the following websites:
Prices vary between these sites, so shop and compare.

The drive motor may be defective. Many washer brands use a reversing motor. For agitation the motor runs in one direction, for spinning and draining, the other. It's possible for a motor to burn out in one direction and continue to operate in the other. If this happens, you need to replace the entire motor. The transmission may not be shifting properly. Older washers produced by Whirlpool and Kenmore have a transmission with an electro-mechanical shifter. If the shifter becomes even partially defective, the unit may drain the water but not spin. This is a complex system, if your washer has a shifter problem, you may want to hire a qualified appliance repair technician to repair it. The spin bearing or basket drive may be worn or seized. These components allow the inner tub to spin freely inside the outer tub. When this is the problem, you usually hear a loud sound during the spin cycle. Call a qualified appliance repair technician.
