Question about Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
Offline very slow, though I defrag weekly, and remove temp files. Also, a pop up I cannot get rid of unless I press CLOSE button six or more times everytime (pop up reads" windows planner not installed"). Online error(like "Windows has encountered a problem and must exit/shut down") messages at several sites even though i've been there previously.
Sounds like a virus. Try installing Microsoft Security Essentials and Malware Bytes. Run those a few times and see if that fixes the problem. If it is still slow, reinstall windows.

Try going into Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, click on the Media Center software, if listed, and see if it gives a choice to Change and/or Repair. You'll probably need your Windows CD if/when it prompts for it.
