OverLode is correct, that happened to my DS, i bought a new one.
Probably,if you put something in the slot and you tried to take it out the pins must've bent

This is usually due to either bent or dirty pins in the card slot, look inside and see if any pins are bent, if they are a new card slot is needed.
Hope this helps

Well, if you look on the back of the game card, you'll see some little plastic lines over the metal part. The lines will match up with the other plastic lines in the ds slot, that is, if they are alined. You'll need to straighten out those lines in the DS to have them matched up with the card's so that the metal part will interact with when turned on, so it will work.

Some pins were bent in my son's DS. I used a mini LED light and an open paper clip as a pick to bend them back into line.
I then got an Emory board (nail file) and wet the tip in alcohol, the board is the right thickness to just reach the copper pins. I went in and out gently as I worked my way across the lot and kept wetting the file with alcohol. All the games worked like it was new. be sure to do this upside down so the alcohol drips out the slot along with the filings. good compressed air blow after you are done to get all the strays out of there.
The pinds are copper and they do oxidize and the games left in gets moisture trapped between the game and the pin causing some corrosion. Maybe diddimilar metals by alloy but wither way this fix works ! : )

First thing to do is rule out a dirty game slot. Buy a game slot cleaner online or at your local game store. Clean the slot and your games using the cleaning kit. Once you have done this if you still encounter the problem you should contact Nintendo to have it repaired or sell it as broken and buy a good used one.
