I use Vista and I have a lot of trouble downloading attached docs unless they are formatted to 1997-2003.doc. My computer is set at a default of doc.x, but a lot of people can't open this version when sent by me. My husband did a test and attached 3 docs, jpg, xlx and pdf and sent to me. I could only open them on this computer as a zip. He went to my acct on his computer and could open them separately with no problem. I get a message, sometimes 3-4 x a day, "explorer has stopped working" "close program". We have the ATT bundle-landline, Dish for tv and sbcglobal for internet, plus Yahoo. I am prompted to sign in each time at crochetkween@sbcglobal.net even though I check "remember me."

Hello,

your computer must have been affected by virus, that's why its behaving that way. It has affected the programs on your system.

Go to avira.com and download the free version of the anti virus. Install it on your computer and allow it to scan for virus.

If the anti virus does not solve the problem, then it means you will have to re-run windows vista on your computer afresh. Format this vista on your computer because its corrupt and install windows vista afresh on your computer.

This is the best way to solve this problem.

sounds like you need open office www.openoffice.org. it opens all microsofts docs and it's free. if you're going to use this to create documents then make sure you save them as microsoft documents. you can save as many different formats so this is a very versatile office suite.

You have notepad set as your default text reader. If you have Word installed use that as your default. So go in set up your default programs you can do this by going to setup default programs in the start menu when you get there look for your default programs for .doc files etc and set it to open up using Word or whatever Word program you have other than notepad. It will not harm your computer if you open .doc or .txt files using notepad.

Attachments that come with ".doc"


doc is MS word 97-2003 format
docx is MS word 2007 format
you should be able to open either if you have MS word 2007 or higher

it depends what kind of doc attached and you will need different app to open. for example, if you have .doc format file you will need Microsoft Word to open and if you have .pdf format, you will need adobe reader to open

This is a known issue with new version of Yahoo Mail.

As a workaround to this problem, you can switch to Yahoo Mail Classic (Older version Yahoo) by clicking the Options link in the upper right corner between Help and Mobile on your Yahoo Mail page, then click the Switch to Yahoo! Mail Classic link.

A dialog box might appear asking for feedback. If it does, click Switch to Yahoo! Mail Classic.

Ever heard of a .doc,v file? I downloaded a .zip file containing documents with the extension .doc,v. Changing the extension doesn't really work neither does opening it in a word processor. There is stuff...


Yes doc.v is office 2007 format.

You have two choices

1. download the office compatibility pack from Microsoft

2. ask the sender to send a regular DOC and tell them you dont have office 2007

i advise u to use the windows photo gallery of VIsta to scan..
steps r:
  1. open windows photo gallery
  2. Click File, and then click Import from Camera or Scanner.
  3. In the Import Pictures and Videos window, click the scanner that you want to use, and then click Import.
  4. In the New Scan dialog box, click the Profile list, and then click Photo. The default settings for scanning a picture are automatically displayed.

Printing only every other line in Word 2007 doc


Dear pony, it could be because you might have changed your print settings.
You can press CTRL+P to change settings

You might also select the text you want to print and print selected.
You can also format the text by going into formatting options of MS word.
This can be because you've put the number of copies to 2. Thats why its printing again. Change it to default and it should fix your problem
