HP Officejet 6000 indicates paper jam but there isnt...

Hi everyone, I have a HP Officejet 6000 (model e609a), the power light and resume light blink on and off together - according to HP's website the problem is a paper jam or carriage stall - there is definately no paper jam and the carriage moves freely left and right. Any idea what the problem could be ?? It was printing a document and then finished last page and now wont print anything at all. Tried turning on and off, have tried removing ink cartridges and replacing but that did not work. Have also tried cleaning the encoder strip. Any ideas welcome...

Printer hp deskjet 840c blinking green and red light why

Depends which red blinking light. I assume the red light is the resume light. The green light is the power light. If the Power and the Resume light are blinking alternately, then you have a paper jam somewhere in the printer. remove the paper jam and you should be fine.

Hi, my HP D4360 DeskJet printer isn't printing. Both the power and resume lights are on and blinking, as well as both the ink lights. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

The power and resume lights blinks due to two reasons. 1) If there is any kind of paper jam in the printer. Then its internal assembly cannot move so the lights blinks. So clear the paper jam if any.Open the cover and check if any paper jam.also there is a access door at the back to check any paper jam.The back plastic door can be opened to remove paper jam. But if you are confirmed that there is no paper jam then the other possibility. 2) The printer cartridges are faulty and needs replacement. There are two print cartridges in the printer. One color and one black.Any of the one can be faulty or in some cases both are faulty. But before replacing cartridge remove the cartridge and clean the brown dotted circuit on cartridge then reinsert the cartridges and check. But if this does not solve the problem then replace the cartridge one by one and solve the problem. Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

The power and paper light keeps flashing

This could mean that a 2-sided document was sent to the printer and the printer is waiting for the page(s) to be reinserted to print on side 2. Check your documentation or the HP support page http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=75045&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us
for more information.

The power light blinking indicates the printer is preparing to print a document. The resume light indicates 1) needs paper, 2) a paper jam anywhere in the printer, or 3) the ready to print side 2 of the document.

I hope this helps.

Check the printer again to see if a very small jam is present. If totally clear, press the Resume button. If same result, power the printer Off / On.

Constant yellow blinking light, no paper jam

I found this on the HP support site:

The power light is on, and the resume light is blinking.

c00109831.gifc01272271.gifc00109834.gif The printer might be waiting to complete a print job or to receive data from your computer.

Solution

Wait for the printer to finish the current task. The printer is waiting for the ink to dry on freshly printed paper.

Solution

  1. Remove the paper with fresh ink.
  2. Press the resume button.
The printer might be out of paper.

Solution

  1. Load paper in the paper tray.
  2. Press the resume button.
The printer might have a paper jam.

Solution

Clear the paper jam. If the resume light continues to blink after the paper jam is cleared,

OR

if the print carriage is stuck or making a grinding noise, then follow these steps.

Solution

  1. Lift the top cover of the printer.
  2. Turn the printer off and then on again.
  3. Unplug the power cable from the back of the printer when the grinding noise starts. Unplug the power cable from the wall outlet.
  4. Movethe print carriage toward the middle of the printer (this proceduremight take a couple of tries to get the timing correct).
  5. Remove the print cartridges and close the top cover.
  6. Plug the power cord into the back of the printer. Plug the power cord into the wall outlet.
  7. Open the top cover, reinstall the print cartridges, and then close the top cover.
The printer may be ready to eject banner paper.

Solution

Press the resume button to eject the banner paper.
