Question about Toshiba Televison & Video

2 Answers

I have a Toshiba DID/VCR player. The DVD is not reading or playing. The Open/Eject isn't having any effect on the door. The model is SD-K220S

okay. I've got the EJECT button to work. Removed the disc (a brand new first-time-out-of-the-package) which did not appear to be damaged in any way.

Now I can't close the drawer. It's as if something is "stuck" in there.

Hello,

the fault is from the mechanism of your player. The mechanism is what controls the disc tray.

Give the player to a qualified tech to either help you adjust the mechanism or replace it entirely.

Take care.

    Hello,

I just saw your comment now. The problem is still from the mechanism like I said earlier.

To free what made the disc tray stuck, use your hand to constantly pull out and pull in the disc tray, this will definitely make it free. Also make sure the player is turned off while you do this.

    Good luck.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. It seems that the lens is unable to read discs. To start with try running a lens cleaning disc, if that does not work then you have to open the unit and clean the lens with a Q-tip dipped in alcohol. If still the issue is not resolved then the lens should be replaced however, replacing a lens will cost you around $75 and a new one will cost you around $50. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

    Locate
your DVD player’s manual Eject button. It is usually a small hole located
underneath the DVD drawer. Insert a stiff wire—such as a paperclip or safety
pin—into the hole. Push gently and the drawer should open partway. Gently pull
the drawer the rest of the way open. Remove the DVD and see if there is a
problem with it. Most DVD player drawers get stuck when a DVD is warped or the
label is starting to peel. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

    Thanks

Hi,
It seems that optical laser block gets fail to read data on disc and possible cause could be dirty/ clogged lens or optical laser block failure.
Put lens cleaning disc in unit to clean optical lens and check DVD playback, if that does not solve the issue then optical laser block would be defective and requires replacement that would cost approx new player price.
Hope these info will help.
Thanks.

THE DVD WON'T OPEN OR PLAY ON MY TOSHIBA TV/VCR/DVD COMBO MW27FN1

check either the front or back of television for a small pinhole, that should be the emergency eject hole, place unwound paper clip in hole to eject disk, however, this will probably be re-occuring and dvd player will need to be replaced.

DVD will not read, the machine will play a CD and the VCR part works fine. What is the problem with it not reading the DVD?

HELLO

The reason why the DVD section is not playing DVD's (but still plays CD's) is that the laser has gone defective. The laser in a DVD machine has two lasers within it and the one that reads DVD's has gone!

Looks as if a new laser is on the cards!

DVD DOOR AND VCR DOOR WILL NOT OPEN, DOES NOT EJECT TAPES OR DISK

I have had some luck in unplugging the machine for five or ten and then trying again. I have spent five to ten minutes trying to get the darn thing to spit out the disk and it refuses. Unplugging either gives me time to cool off or it helps the machine :)

I am unable to eject a DVD disk from the player either with the remote or player mounted buttons. Your advice would be appreciated.

do this with the unit off:1Unplug the DVD player and take the outer casing of the DVD player off. This entails either taking out two or three screws or simply sliding one of the pieces of plastic in either direction.
Step2Locate the disc loader cover. The disc loader cover is located where the extending DVD tray finally comes to rest within the DVD player. It’s the part that holds the DVD loader in place. Step3Bend the two tabs outward that hold the loader in place. This is a delicate procedure because you don’t want to hurt the device. The tabs are relatively easy to break since they're plastic in most cases. Step4Slide the disc tray out. If your disc got stuck before it was read, it's probably still on this tray. If so, your problem is solved. However, if the disc was fully set and loaded, the job isn’t quite finished yet. Step5Move the small mechanical arm that holds the disc in place over so that the disc and the reader are both exposed. Some DVD players will not have anything holding the disc in place. Instead, these devices use a system not unlike that of a common DVD case. The DVD will be locked in place in the center. Step6Carefully lift the disc up and out of its loaded position in the DVD player. This may entail sliding the disc reading mechanism over slightly. This won't hurt the device as long as you’re careful. You should be able to access and remove the disc.
if this helps dont forget to leave a fixya rating as thats how we get paid

I havent seen this model But in the past I have heard this problem arise. It turned out that there was a mute button for the cd only on the remote and there was no indicator to show it. check for a cd mute or go into the cd play menu and check around in there.
