It looks like the screen inverter has failed. It is repairable, but check the cost of repair against the cost of replacement to see if its viable.

It's a component on a circuit board which has died.

You've not lost your information, that is still on your PC, a separate unit.

But what I would suggest is, when you've got a screen sorted out, you back up your information. I would back up Music, Photo's, Movies and Documents you need to keep to DVD's. Then you've got the for years to come and they're not going to suffer a mechanical failure.

Hi all, never experienced this problem before and didn't come across it anywhere. so when i turn my ps3 on it starts up with the ps3 logo screen and then goes onto the background scenario and thats...

Not really an idea, but a theory. It sounds like your system can not load the user interface, and beyond trying a different hard drive, this is beyond my experience to fix. I suggest checking some message boards and perhaps calling Sony. Keep me informed on what you find, as I will be looking as well.

DX6440 won't turn on; doesn't charge beyond first green bar in stand. New battery didn't make a difference. History of lens cover not opening fully.

Went to Kodak's interactive solution page... didn't solve or give information as to why... but stepped me through several "tests" to clarify that camera was still operative through dock power source but that power was not being received through point of battery or recharging and would have to go "in to shop" for repair. I would have preferred to understand what/why it wasn't working properly.

My screen is x X y inches. The windows page doesnt fit into it. There is one inch of black space on the monitor on the left and one inch of my windows screen is lost on the right!!!!!!!

With the on-screen controls, select Auto-Adjust. This should set suitable defaults based on the incoming signal. If you are using the VGA connector and the position still needs to be adjusted, use the on-screen controls to shift the displayed image to the proper location (under Display Settings -> Horizontal Position).

Broken Screen

The black liquid means the display is damaged beyond repair. That's the liquid crystal (LC) in the display (LCD). Where you send it for repairs would depend on the manufacturer, the store you bought it from, and if you have a service plan or not, but it's not something you can do yourself unfortunately. Been there too :(
