SOURCE: 4.5 hp Briggs& Stratton push mower will not run
You need to rebuild your carb. The diaphram in the carb has gotten hard and is no longer acting as a fuel pump to pump the fuel to the carb. Get a rebuild kit and a compressor (for compressed air) to blow out the jet passages. It is an medium to easy job, just watch the small parts. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hint: Before you remove your fuel/air jets, bottom them out first and count the number of turns it takes to bottom them out and mark it down for each fuel/air jet. When you go to reinstall the fuel/air jets bottom them out and then back them back out to the number of turns before removal. That way the fuel/air jets are set to the right number of turns when it was running right. Good Luck, I hope this helped Please rate me...Thanks

SOURCE: I recently got a green Craftsman with yellow
You need to take the mower into a SEARS authorized store and have them show you the code meanings. Craftsman has changed a lot of their codes so for the first time this is the only way.

SOURCE: I have a old yard
I have found OEM part number 746-0552 on Ebay. This is for older units, say 1997 on. The cable is 49" in length. Here is a link to ALL the MTD brake cables on Ebay.

Yours is the MTD-White Outdoor Push Mower Brake Cable. # 746-0552.
We call this the deadman/brake cable. It allows a small brake pad to rub against the flywheel on the top of the engine while at the same time actuating a switch which shorts out the ignition current to the spark plug. An interesting and much needed device, right! Good luck. Hope this helps.

Fuel needle leaking in the carb, remove the float bowl, check the float is moving freely, clean away any dirt, if no better replace the inlet needle.
