My screen flickers and turns black. Moving the screen doesn't seem to cause or correct the problem. If the screen turns black it comes back if I touch the pad. I have connected the unit to another monitor and it works fine. the monitor also works fine in safe mode. I thought that this may be a driver issue but it was not corrected by performing a complete system restore.

    ANY IDEAS?

Does opening or closing the display cause a fix or flicker?..then could be cracked wires or a loose terminal.

Sorry, The wires to the screen are damaged (they are in a film like conector), and the repair is not easy. Best of luck.

sounds to me like your having a problem with your LCD screen,, A bad LCD or LCD inverter board can affect the mother boards bootup.

Can you see any life from the LCD?

It could also be a bad main board

My laptop is showing a black screen nad nothing else after booting. what could be the problem with it?

Remove the back panels and remove the RAM and unplug the battery and any source of power. This will purge the memory of any instructions that maybe causing your problem. It sounds like a cooky fix but it works.
The black screen is usually the cause of this.

Let me know if it boots, if not we will find another solution

No Display

If you see a very dim image or black screen or flicking image on the LCD screen it means you have a backlight problem.

Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power it up, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight.

Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

The display screen has turned black

When you connected the external monitor thto the laptop did it display?

If so then you have to reset the monitor port. Hold down the function key and find the FKEY that shows a picture of a monitor. Press that until you get the laptop screen back.

Typical use is:
  • 1 press = external monitor
  • 2 presses = laptop and dual monitor
  • 3 presses = just the laptop screen
