Hi
First try these steps.

1. Insert a writeable CD or DVD into your computer's CD or DVD recorder.
2. In the dialog box that appears, click Burn files to data disc.
3. In the Burn a Disc dialog box, type a name for this disc, and then click Show formatting options.
4. Click Mastered, and then click Next.
5. An empty disc folder opens.
6. Open the folder that contains the files you want to burn, and then drag the files into the empty disc folder.
7. On the toolbar, click Burn to disc.

The selected files are copied to the disc. When the disc burning is complete, the disc burner tray will open and you can remove the disc. You can now use the disc in another computer or media device. This type of disc does not need to be closed.

Note: To burn a Mastered disc, you need free space on your hard disk equal to the capacity of the disc. For a typical CD, this is about 650 megabytes (MB).

When you use the Mastered format, files are stored in a "staging area" until you decide to burn the disc.If you select files to burn but decide not to copy the files to disc, you can delete the temporary files to recover hard disk space. To delete the files, open the disc folder, select the files, and then, on the toolbar, click Delete temporary files.

Remove Write protection from DVD disc

1. Insert the DVD disc into the computer's DVD-ROM burner drive. Click on "Burn files to disc" from the window that automatically pops up.

2. Type a name for the DVD disc in the "Burn a Disc" box. Click "Show formatting options" and choose a formatting option.

3. Choose "Live File System" to allow files to be copied immediately to the DVD disc, much like sending data to a USB flash drive or floppy disk. Live File System discs can only be read by Windows XP or later versions. Choose "Mastered" to have files be copied to the DVD all at once. This is the standard burning method; discs can be played back on any DVD-ROM drive.

4. Click "Next" to prepare the disc. Files can now be copied to the disc using the selected method.

My ACER cd/dvd scb265 combo doesn't read some DVD data disk

Windows Vista by default burns "Live File System" It picks if its Live or not when you are "Preparing the blank disc" this is when it asks you what to you want to title the disc. The problem with Live discs is they don't work on any operating system that came before Windows XP and they don't work on Windows XP if it doesn't have service pack 3. Because of this, you want to burn your CD/DVD as a "Mastered" disc. These are compatible with all operating systems, but any files are permanent *unless you are using CD/RW or DVD/RW, DVD/RAM.

If this was not your problem, please leave a comment and I will get back to you and try to fix your problem =)

Can't read dvd ram disk

Well not all DVD Rom's are compatible for DVD Ram. Other problem would be the formatting. Windows XP Home and Professional can only write directly to FAT32-formatted DVD-RAM discs. For UDF-formatted discs, which are considered faster, compatible device drivers or software such as InCD or DLA are required. Windows Vista can natively access and write to both FAT32 and UDF-formatted DVD-RAM discs, however Windows Vista uses its own version of the UDF format giving compatibility problems. Vista also has issues with XP formatted FAT32 discs as Vista uses the CPRM features. Even though it is possible to use any file system one likes, only very few perform well on DVD-RAM. This is because some file systems frequently over-write data on the disc and the table of contents is contained at the start of the disc.

How to save to cd from computer

Hi!

Usually, you will have to use a software to burn files to a CD or DVD. But you can also use the default burner of your operating system (either windows XP or Vista).

Here's how:
Right click on the file or files you want to burn or copy to a CD (it would be better to put files to a single forlder). Then select "Send to" , select CD or DVD. A new windows will pop up asking what will be the name of the contents - just type any filename.

You can also use a software like Nero or Roxio. These are good software in burning files to a CD or DVD.

That's it.

I hope that helps.

Good luck and have a nice day.

Dvd rw or cd-r/rw not being reconized by computor

Hi there,

Uninstall the drive via Device Manager, restart your system and let Windows install it.
Update to the latest Windows Service Pack.
Download the most up-to-date Chipset drivers.

If none of these work, clean your registry.
http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm
This is free, and will fix. Choose Clean Up if you have XP, or choose Beta version if you have Vista.

Hope these solve your problem
