This is an odd problem to a non-techy. I have a music DVD which played fine yesterday yet now when I put it in the system says no disc. I try another DVD and that works but when I go back to the original the system insists there is no dvd in the player.
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US. click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. Goodluck!

1 - Try a different disc. Either works, or not. If works, problem original non-playng disc. If not working, problem is player (or another faulty disc).
2. If player is problem: Try using a 'head-cleaner' disc (from store). These usually play whilst cleaning. If no play - problem is 'read head' in player. If it plays, then try ( a known good - works in another machine), disc. 3. If 'read head' is faulty, you need a techy to replace, or throw it away, buy a new one (more likely).
If there is nothing at all from the center channel while watching a DVD, first try resetting the system (unplug the power cord from the sub, and the DC power cord from the media center for 30+ seconds)
If a reset doesn't help this, run the "adaptIQ" setup disc again. Honestly, this is a very odd problem for that system to have. (especially since we know the center speaker works for other sources) I hope this helps.
The dvd drive has a bad laser in it more then likely. Thats why it doesn't matter what disc your putting in so either the laser would be replaced or a whole new drive put in.
I would notify the seller on Ebay and get the system swapped out with another one or get your money back. Refurbished systems mean that something was wrong with it and parts were swapped out or either repaired down to component level. Sometimes the technician doesn't check out the system fully and thats why you can run into the problem that you have now.
TThe player does not play this type of dvd disk! only pre-recorded movies and CDs Try hooking Up a player that plays DVD+ and DVD- disks!Hope I was of help!

Open up the unit and clean the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. If that does not resolve the problem, try a music CD and report the results here. I suspect that the optics have begun to fail. If that is the case, the music CD will play but a DVD will not. The optics assembly is available (part # RAF3023A-1) for about $60.
