The problem is in the thermostat wiring. Y1 on an air conditioner, brings on the cooling. On a heat pump, it brings on the compressor, which generally fails to heat mode. The O wire operates the reversing valve, which brings on cooling. If these wires are reversed, or not hooked up, you will not get cooling.

As a certified heat pump specialist, I can assure you there are many things that can cause it to run warm or hot in the cooling mode. You have provided insufficient data and information to troubleshoot here. Is the system NEWLY installed. If so. Was it working properly and then all of a sudden started blowing warm air? Previous response regarding the proper 24-volt wiring is one thing I would check. I've had several customers in years past whose pet dogs chewed through the thermostat wire leading to the outdoor unit - and wire nuts fixed the problem. I've also found stuck reversing valves - some were fixed by simply switching the thermostat from Cool to Heat approximately 20 times while others had to be totally replaced. I've also found several customers who simply only needed to change their return air filter, turn the system to Heat for 15 minutes to melt ICE accumulation on their indoor coils, then turn system back to Cool. And, I've found other customers who had either not enough or too much Freon in their system causing problems. So, those are the areas that I, personally, would check on my own heat pump system; and, in that order. Good luck.

Also check some units energize in heat some in a.c. if your system worked fine then started blowing heat you could have a bad heat sequencer causing electric heat to run. also the reversing valve in the condenser might have failed otherwise check your tstat and change "o" to "b"

Which wires do i put to together from a heat pump to make a straight cool

well the red and yellow will make it come on in cool , but if there isn't any selector for the reversing valve you'll need to add in the orange too , or it will only just blow air , but now some models don't have an orange , but instead just default to cool mode , when pwr isn't on the blue wire (heat)

My Honeywell thermostat isnt keeping my house cool even though the temp is set to 69. Currently 90 degrees in here

Its probably not the thermostat. The air conditioner may be stuck on heating mode. If its a reverse cycle, the reversing valve may be jammed so even when the thermostat is calling for cold air, it stays on heat. If the machine is on heating mode, it should be blowing cold air out of the outdoor unit of the air con. If its on cooling mode, the outdoor should be blowing hot air.

Air condition not cooling

If this is a heat pump it sounds like the reversing valve is stuck in the heat mode, replacing it requires opening the sealed system, which needs to be done by a licensed ac repairman.

Uotside unit blowing cool air but hot on the inside

It sounds like you have a unit called a heat pump. When a heat pump unit is in cooling mode the outside unit blows hot air and the inside unit blows cold air. If the outside unit is blowing cold then the indoor unit is most likely blowing room temperature or warm air. It sounds like the thermostat could be controlling incorrectly or you could have a failed reversing valve which is the device that switches the unit from heating to cooling mode.

Goodman ac / heat pump

I just had a new unit installed and I am surfing for troubleshooting tips too. My unit is doing the same... cools well heat sucks. my problem has been isolated down to the reversing valve... It is constantly energised which means it is constantly in a/c mode even when kicking on the heat strips... We disconnected a line at the thermostat and it is working well as a heater now. You may want to check yours to see if it is actually kicking over into to heat mode... -rob
