The TV need a thorugh check up, before doing any repair to it. Some repair works, can be done manually. It sounds that some electrolytic capacitor on the main power reguaator board has bursted out. Check the power regulator baord first. Digital baord faults are rare. In most cases, main power board might be replaced as card basis.
i had exactly the same problem but not anymore. i called the haier co. and they told me to order a new remote control so i did. i got my new remote and i turned my tv on and pushed the tv/use and it worked thank god. so maybe you could try it. remote control only 20.00 good luck!
Sears knows of this problem - the key is to convince them to come out and replace the three circuit boards for free - argue that they should have recalled or fix the MONITORS proactively and that this isn't the service level that Sears is known for. Mine was out of warranty, but they still came out and ordered the boards. Also, make sure when you buy a new Plasma, that you buy a Television, not a Monitor to avoid the frustations about tuners.
You can order the parts and plug them in yourself. I did this, since it takes weeks to get the Sears guy to come back and do it. It was simple, but isn't recommended unless you can't wait to have your tv back. Sears sends parts by mail directly to your home...
Harish.......If you've lost both audio and video you'll probably need the upgrade kit. If it were just video you could get by for sometime with replacing the slow blow fuse on the s-zus board. Check your eprom chip on the digiatal board to see if it appears burnt. If so it may have fried. If you'd like the service manual I'll need your email address
The popping noise you heard it's probably a capacitor blowing up in the power supply circuitry. If the TV is less than one year old, still covered under manufacturers warranty.
Let me know if you need any more assistant let me know.
There is a easy fix - Most of you purchased your television at Sears or BrandsSmart Stores - No picture but you can hear sound - the part you need is the upgrade kit - part: TV-3940-01 - the part is not always available.
