Hi,
I have a five yr. old Frigidare refrigerator 25 cu.-ft, S/S in door water and ice dispenser,Model # FRS26HF6BW2, Manf.#04-03. This morning I awoke to melted water all over my kitchen floor and the motor is sounding very rough. It is also not nearly as cold as it should be. Can you give me any advice, and do you know if there is a known issue with this model?
Thanks,
Ginny
First - It's time to do a manual defrost. The fans are located in the back top area. These are actually easy to change, just hard to find cheap. I have a commercial account so I do get a break. sometimes you can just oil the bearings and it would be good for another year or two.First - It's time to do a manual defrost. Dirt in body of icemaker water supply valve. OR. Ice maker timer stuck when it selected "add water to icemaker. The first solution is simple, change icemaker water filter and disassimble valve to clean. The second is simple, buy a new icemaker.
I just replaced the water valve because my water dispenser in the door kept dripping. Google parts for your model and put in water valve. It will cost around $80 for the part. My sic year old did most of thr reacement after watching an online video.
HI, TO ME LOOK THAT YOUR REFRIGERATO HAS A BAD ICE MAKER, BUT IF YOU REFRIGE IS OVER 5YEARS OLD REPLACED THE ICE MAKER AND SELENOIDE WATER VALVE ,100%PROBLEM REPAIR..
frigidare 36' side by side. makes ice, nothing comes out of the door dispenser, auger truns. prior to this it would only give crushed ice even if set on cubes
Since you did not provide a model number this is the best guess. On 25 Cu Ft and above models no matter the manufacturer most of the filters are in the left portion of the grille at floor level. You turn the tab and the filter pops free. If yours is not in this are just respond here with a model number and I will help you.
Without knowing your particular model number, I checked and most 25 cu.ft. side by sides have the water filter in the grille. You just push a release button and it pops out. There is a cap on the filter, do not through it away as you will need it on a new filter. Also ensure the O-ring protective covers are removed on the new filter prior to installing. You can run the water dispenser without a filter as well. Here is a link to the PDF for one type of 25 cu. ft. As the weather is getting warmer for many people their freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...
Check out this tip that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...
Please check for the water passage beneath the freezer. There will be a small pipe and there is a possibility that that pipe path is blocked with ice or dirt.
you are correct, the fan is not running. Now what do you suggest I can do to get it going?
Thanks,
Ginny
