Generally, the water dispenser and ice maker are connected in the back of the refrigerator to the front dispenser.

The dispenser should be hooked to the back, if this is what you mean?

You'll see little clear white plastic tubes that with a kit can connect to the water supply in your home, possibly through a pipe in the basement using the tap from the pipe method to connect to the copper plumbing of your home.

www.geappliances.com has more specific diagrams and information, but unfortunately my computer's internet connection was slow today, and wouldn't let me on this site, maybe due to high traffic.

    http://www.geappliances.com/appliances/r...

I got to the loading of the above page, but it wouldn't let me load it all the way from my location, but maybe you will have more luck.

We just got a $1200 refrigerator from Sears and also shopped at lowe's and most refrigerators have the same set up as far as tubes in the back that hook into a built in ice maker.

If you are looking for specific information on how to hook it up inside the refrigerator, where the ice or water dispenser previously were not installed at the factory, I would input the specific model into the ge.com website for refrigerators (last link above).

Yes the dispenser is hooked up in the back but no water cames out of the spout when you press the blue buttom

Even if your refrigerator is not side by side, the tubes enter through the back

    Take
the bottom plate off the front of the refrigerator. Look under the
refrigerator and you should see a blue connector that connects the water
line just before it goes into the door. Take that connector loose and
try the dispenser and if water comes through the tube but will not work
when you connect it back the tube is frozen inside the door.

    If
this is the case reconnect the line, open the door to the freezer, press
the door switch by hand and press the lever to dispense water
repeatedly until water comes out the dispenser.

The hose that goes to the water dispenser most likely has a crack in it somewhere inside the door. Usually the heat from the light in the door deteroriates the hose and lets water leak inside the door every time the dispenser is used.

Water/ice dispenser stopped working all lights out

Hi Friend, this is Z. I am happy to assist you!

I understand you are experiencing an issue with the water/ice dispenser of your Frigidaire refrigerator. May I have your model number please? You can normally locate the serial tag (which lists your model number) inside the cabinet, on the right side wall. Also, Can you remember any error codes or any odd functions prior to this issue? Thank you and I look forward to further assisting you.

Electrolux water dispenser wont shut off

If your water dispenser will not shut off then it is either the dispenser microswitch or the water inlet valve in the back of the refrigerator. Here is link that might help http://apcoappliancerepair.wordpress.com/?s=water+dispenser . Would need a model and serial number to assist you more. Good Luck From Apco Appliance and Air .

Maytag MFI2266AEU Water and ice dispenser locked, control panel

Door Panel Locked
Press Door Alarm and Freezer "-" at the same time, then release Door Alarm but continue pressing Freezer "-". You will see PE _ _ _ _.
Press Freezer "-" until PE # # # # shows on the panel.
Using Freezer "+" to move cursor, Refrigerator "+" and "-" to change numbers, bring all numbers to "0". Press Freezer "-" until PE and numbers blink. Unplug refrigerator for 45 seconds, never beyond 1 minute or you'll have to start over.
Look inside refrigerator door and locate the serial sticker. To the right of the serial number is the CODE ####. Plug in your refrigerator.
Press Door Alarm and Freezer "-" at the same time, then release Door Alarm but continue to press Freezer "-". Using the same method as above, enter the four digit CODE number you found on the serial sticker. Press Freezer "-" until PE and numbers blink. You have just reset your panel. Unplug for 45 seconds. Plug in refrigerator and you should now have full use of your door panel.
This unit has a built in safety timer mechanism. If it dispenses water for two minutes, it assumes it is flooding your house and shuts the panel down. If you are filling a pitcher of water, just stop dispensing halfway through to reset the safety timer.

My water dispenser does not work. I unscrewed the hose at the bottom of the door and there is water pressure there. Where should I be looking for the problem?

If pressure there it could mean anything may be possible. I need the Sears Model Number. If the water valve on rear of refrigerator does not open then water will not exit the dispenser. Sometimes water is frozen in the dispenser water container located inside the fresh food. Sears Numbers Look Like this (231.564897) for example
compartment. And sometimes it is the dispenser controls. I will need your Kenmore Model Number to tell you the part you need and to help you better. Thank You, Sea Breeze

This could be a bad water valve for dispenser on back of fridge or poor connection in the dispenser control. If you could get me the model number I will be able to help you better. Look at following areas for the model number
  • Beneath Or Inside Food Compartment On Cabinet Frame
  • On Plate Lower Front Or Rear Of Cabinet
  • Beside Compressor Door On Right End
  • Near Rear Of Cabinet
  • Inside Liner At Top

Icemake not making water

At bottom hinge of freezer is the water line to door. Undo connection in line. It may be a quick connect. To undo push in on one end flange to release, and pull out line. Put bowl under end from under refrigerator and make sure doors are closed. Now push water dispenser and see if water comes out line. If it does, the line is frozen in the door. They had some models that had air leaks in freezer door. This causes insulation to freeze and water line freezes. Push in on inside of freezer door and see if it sounds like snow crunching. If it does it's probably frozen. Also peel door seal back a bit and see if is held on by numerous screws. If it is, it may be one of them that freezes. Call GE. They may still have the program going where you get 2 new doors free. Give them your model and serial numbers.
