I have a hp Proliant ML350 G5 with 4 drives 500GB each. Few days back the system was not starting prompting me that there is a probable hd failure. I have replaced it with a new one but the problem still persists. I don't know what is causing this. Moreover I have asked few of my friends and they are saying that it will take approx 40-50 hours to rebuild and its is a hidden process whereas the monitor is showing the message which says "insert boot disk and press any key".

Well it depends on the condition of your 'boot' drive. If you install windows on the boot drive, or first drive, generally 'C:' then the other drives should be readable, even if they do not have boot information on them.

Somehow the boot information on the boot sector became corrupt, assuming your PCI Express cards are working ok.

If it says 'insert boot disk and press any key' then it is not currently a bootable disk.

Hopefully, a virus did not do this to your machine.

Are the 4 drives in the tower or are they external drives?
What is the interface? PCI Express, or EIDE or what not?

Sometimes heat can destroy the boot information on the disk, or destroy information on the platters of the hard disk drive, or the circuit boards could get out of specifications due to heat.

Do you have the computer in an air conditioned room within specifications for running these drives?

I had heat related power supply issues with external drives in cases which were SCSI drives in the 1990s. Heat is the enemy of consumer computer equipment.

I would get an 'insert boot disk and press any key' and whenever that happened, I had to reformat the disk and reinstall windows to get it to work again.

I had a back up image on the spare drive which I left off, unless I was restoring, because it would keep data longer that way (in the off state).

"insert boot disk and press any key". This message comes when harddrive is not recognized in bios or windows system files damaged. For that first open cpu cabinet and reconnect both connection to harddrive.Reconnect RAM memory. Then when you power up the computer press F1 or F2 or del ALT+F2 key to enter in bios then make sure hardddrive is recognize in bios. Then if still same issue then you need to repair windows with disk. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

Windows Server 2008 Network Driver for Proliant ML350 G3

Anyone who has tried loading Windows Server 2008 on their Proliant ML350 G3 has found that HP does not offer the network driver for this system.

BUT, the Windows Server 2003 driver for the NC series Broadcom 1gb will work! Rather than choosing the 'install' option, choose to 'extract' it, then via the device manager, manually install the driver from that location.

Happy Computing!

Connect HP Proliant ML350 Server.

Hi,

Please verify if your server power specs support 110 or 220 V. If you are in the US, eventhough you might have connected a 220V cable the line voltage can be 110.
Check with your power company if they can provide you the necessary wattage of the server.(Specs are printed on the power supply. you can read it from HP web also)

Once you are sure that, connect both power suppllies and try booting.

If the error still occurs, it can be a power supply failure or some other hardware failure.

Regs,

Hp proliant ml350 g5 vga drivers for windows 2000 professional

Download the latest Proliant Support Pack from HP's web site. This will update the drivers for everything on the server at once.

Just go to hp.com and click the link for "Support & Drivers" at the top, then click the radio button to download drivers and enter ML350 into the text box. Select the G5 from the list and then select your OS. The PSP will be near the bottom of the page. The display driver will be close to the top if you just want to update it.

HP Proliant ML350 G5 wont boot ,just spining.

The G5 Series is fairly new, if you're within warranty, call 1800-okCompaq.

Could be a bad cable, a bad monitor, or bad computer hardware. Any display at all or any beep codes?

On the back, the ml350 G5 will likely have an additional Network interface jack-- this may be labeled ILO. The ILO network connect allows you to use another PC on the same network to access this system (like a remote control via VNC or RDP) even if it won't power up--literally. Inside the ILO page, (you'll need the IP address of the ILO, the default account is administrator, and the default password is listed ona paper tag attached in the rear or on a sticker. If you can get into ILO via web browser: https://ipddress of ilo, you can check the Integrated log, which can shed some light on any failures.

After initial power on of HP ProLiant ML350, it will not stay on.

Is it on a dedicated circuit? Have you checked the voltage? As a control, I would suggest you move it back to its most recent location temporarily or at the very least to a location with a different power circuit to try to isolate if you have a power issue or a server failure.

Do you have two power supplies? If so, be sure they are plugged into independent circuits if at all possible.

I can´t use a serial ata disk in a proliant 350

I know ATA disks are cheaper , but they don't last as long or are less reliable.

I do not recommend mixing SCSI and ATA .

Use one or the other , not both.

Do not try , unless your server is non critical.
If it is non critical , why bother with server , a PC will do as well.

Thanks
David
