Question about Electro Brand Vertical 3-CD Stereo Shelf System

Open Question

I need a vertical or <10" deep stereo receiver amplifier

I need a vertical stereo receiver amplifier to fit in the cabinet below my flat screen TV. A horizontal receiver that was less than 10" deep might also work. I have ruined two Sony standard receivers by standing them on their sides. They work for a while then they start to short-out for some reason. They will work if you tap them or lean them in a sertain direction, but go on and off indiscrimanately. The reason for having to stand it on it's side is that the cabinet is not deep enough to hold a standard receiver-amplifier. It is built as a unit the retracts the 46 inch TV into the back of the cabinet and thus they didn't leave standard room for all the components like the Cabel box, DVD player and receiver in the front compartment of the cabinet.

Can not get sound on the tv screen when I turn it up on to channels no sound at all Mrs s hardy

When you say you turn it up, I assume you see a volume bar appear on screen which changes as you change the volume. Try going into the TV menu with the remote and navigate until you find settings for the audio/sound making sure the speakers are set to "On". If they are you are more likely to have a problem internally requiring service.

You can, as an alternative, connect audio cables from the output of the TV to a stereo receiver/amplifier and see if you get sound that way, although that is only a work-around for your real issue.

You could also feed the TV digital audio output to the stereo amp via HDMI, digital coax, or fiber optic, if the stereo has those inputs.

My led tv just shuts off.wait 10 mins and it can

Seems that your TV is subjected to overheating. Flat screen TV's need ventilation or they will suffer terribly. If the TV is inside a cabinet, air does not circulate well and in summer is may over heat. In winter the room temperature also plays its part in overheating the TV. When the problem happens, observe why, feel the temperature in the room and not the days it happens. If it shuts down and then 10 minutes later if restarts, this is temperature related problem. Try and place your TV on an small low cabinet so that the rear of the TV has enough air circulation without the hot air that the TV produces returned into the TV back panel. normal air is usually sucked from below the TV and expelled above it. Place your hands on the top back part of the TV and feel the heat. place your hand below the back part of your TV and feel how cool it feels. When a Flat screen TV is placed inside a cabinet designed for TVs, the air circulation is affected, and it recycles hot air back through the lower part of the TV therefore heating it to a critical level that it eventually shut down to prevent damage to components. And in winter, when your heaters are on, the room heat can actually damage the TV in those cabinets. Try and place the TV in the open part of the room and see if there are changes with the problem. if it stops, then that was the problem.

Mitsubishi LCD #LT40148--left side of screen has vertical lines.

I would guess a sustain or similar board---one for each side of the set and typical shop repair will exceed 200 parts and labor

I want to connect my Pioneer XV-HTD520 receiver to Dish Net to provide music throughout my residence. I was connected to Direct TV until 1 week ago, everything worked fine but I was connected directly to...

I think we're both confused.

We need specific details when talking about AV gear because of the common interchangeable terminologies (but NOT fuctions) and cable types used by the audio and video sides.

Let's be specific about types of cables:

Coaxial Cable (for TV) = 300-ohm like an antenna conenction
Coaxial Digital Audio = RCA-style cable

Just because something fits doesn't mean it carries a compatible signal.

The closest thing I could find to describe the unique inclusion of a TV-style coax on the back is this:

http://forum.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/3/84929.html

Is the HTD-540 capable of tuning TV stations (wall coax)? I doubt it.

The wall coax is for multiple TV channels, right? It's not the same as running a video coax from, say, a VCR on Channel 3, or is it?

Please clarify, if possible.

This statement, too, is puzzling, "but there is a TV >>> wo/output<<< jacks in the same cabinet ".

Common abbreviations I am familiar with would be w/output (WITH output) or w/o output (WITHOUT output). Which is this?

In either case, what is the relevance of output jacks on a TV? Unless you mean AUDIO output. Even so, why wash audio through a TV then send it via probably analog-stereo-only RCA cables to an audio-specializing device like the Pioneer?

How to connect an audio system to TV

You really can't add too much since the set's amplifier was designed to work with the internal speakers. What you'd be better off doing is buying a stereo receiver (or a home-theater system) and a couple of sets of speakers. Feed the audio output from the TV (on the rear or side, wherever they are on your set) to one of the receiver's inputs and you're off and running. You'll get more flexibility with a setup like this as well. If you don't want to watch TV you could still use the system for radio or CD playing as well.

Some Marshall cabinets do have stereo input jacks. You would need one of them or have to use another cabinet.

I just tried re-setting the digital tuner, which for the JVC LT-37x688 is as simple as powering the TV on, and holding the chanel down and volume down buttons simultaneously for about 3-5 seconds. The screen will go to black, and the TV will power off. Turn it back on, and you get the JVC logo again as everything re-sets. This solved my problem with vertical colored bar lines vice a picture, and sound.

Vertical black line on screen

Your set has either a bad driver board or more likely a bad plasma panel.
