Can you provide the model # of the Presario from which you obtained this motherboard? A serial number (which is what you've given) isn't sufficient to get the pinouts for your board. I need an actual motherboard model number.

Hi peju90,

If you've gutted out the old dell computer, then your only talking about a empty case. Put all the right chips and cpu's that the Asus board requires, and you should have no problem with the CD rom or any other hardware. Except if you try and put the hard disk from the dell, it will not have the same configurations, and probably be a bit crazy. But, reformat the drive to it's new board, and your home free.

The power connections will be the same as it was on the old Presario, if you have the old power supply then nothing changes on that. You'll need to hook up the front connectors for USB and Hard drive lights, reset etc, but that would be the ugliest senario. Meaning the csse fit a special connector that the board doesn't carry. In that case you to option, either cut the special connectors and replace them with the ones from the old Presario case, or don't connect them, all but the power, you're gonna need that hooked up, one way or the other.

But, that's as tough as it gets my friend. A case is a case is a case.

Good Luck

Mark

Compaq Presario X6000 middle fan not running when connected to system board. removed and tested and it works. Why is not getting power from board?

What middle fan are you talking about?
The case fan?
There should be at least two power connectors on the motherboard for a case fan. Try another.
It would be really unusual for the power connector to fail. Perhaps there is a loose wire in the fan connector that comes loose when you try to connect it to the motherboard.

On/off switch

Hi,
Usually the power on button only has two wires. Then you have HDD led leads, reset leads, power led leads etc. These are all separate wires that fit onto separate pins in the Jpanel1 (front panel header).

Could be that the really old emachines grouped all these wires and made them into a plug to fit their own style motherboards.

If this is the case then that connector would not be on your newer motherboard, and it would have that Jpanel1 instead.

Hope this helps as I'm not very familiar with the old emachines.

Hi birm,
I can tell you that most likely the white wire is the ground wire. The others are positive. The two manual found on eMachine's site does not provide enough of detail.
In this manual see;
Replacing the front I/O Panel (Pages 168, 170 see number 5).
http://downloads.emachines.com/userguides/8511279_eM_NG3_chassis_HW_ref_en.pdf

The information is not specific enough, my guess is the front panel connections is the cable to the far right. (Looking at the picture).
You can try by looking at the picture & hooking the cable as shown.
The white colored wire seems to face to the right. Than try the power on button. If system does not come on, turn the connector 180 & reconnect. Try the power on button on the case.

Listed at the bottom of the link below you can either chat with a tech or call tech. (Main site for the T6522)

Good luck birm!

I wish I could be more specific.

So you put your old hardware into a new case? If it worked before it should work now unless you added some hardware. The first thing I would do is check all connections, cables. cords etc. Make sure everything is secure and connected properly. Make sure all PCI, AGP etc cards are seated tightly in their slots. Also double check that the wires from the face plate to the motherboard are connected properly. In other words go back and check everything you touched when doing the switch between cases. Hopefully you will find something loose or not connected properly that is causing this problem. Also did you change power supplies using the one that may have come with case. Check that too. Once I connected the power button to the re-set pins on the motherboard. Every time I pressed the power button it wanted to restart. So it could be something that simple.

Power button wiring

A quick google determined your emachines model w2040 is equipped with FIC motherboard AM37. Download the manual from
http://www.fic.com.tw/support/motherboard/motherboard.aspx?model_id=107
You'll find the pinout info for your wiring on page 13.
Most motherboards also have the pinouts silkscreened onto the board itself.

If you are replacing the power supply and it has 4 pin 12v conector and your motherboard doesn't, just disregard the 4 pin plug. The 20 pin conector will supply sufficient power for the processor. Many of the older motherboards did not have a separate 12v supply for the processor.
