Easy fix

On your remote press "Functions"
A menu will appear on your screen. Use the up / down keys on your remote to select "Disc Management" You should see a tab marked "Disc Protection" Use the up / down keys on your remote again to select this tab. You should now be able to turn the protection off. When you gave finished, press Enter and then Return on your remote.

Please note, the Disc Protection function is used when you have made a recording and you do not want to record over it or erase it by mistake.

Hope this helps

When I try to record a show. There is no picture on the disc when I'm done. Its just a white noise screen. I finalize the disc too. there is no prompt to tell me to format the disc.

If the disc playes back then the problem is not with the DVD unit. In order to record white noise, the channel selected for record is probably not tuned in. Try recording the same channel on to video tape and see what results you get.

Can not read disc

I mainly use my DVR to record TV shows on DVD-RAM discs (Panasonic brand or Maxell). I've had no problems with the DVD-RAM discs. However, today when I put a DVD-R disc in the recorder, I got an "Incompatible Disc" error message. I tried a second disc from the same set, and got the same message. I tried out some of the DVD-Rs that I recorded last year and I could read them. Tried a DVD-RAM. That was OK. So, I tried another DVD-R disc. That one is OK. I don't know if the problem is that these DVD-Rs are getting a little old (2 years??) or if the recorder is developing its own problems reading discs.

PANASONIC DVD RAM DISC RECORDING

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

To my knowledge the only basic requirement to play a recorded disc into another machine (even of the same brand) is that the disc must be finalized. The recorder must be instructed that no further recording is intended and that the recorded disc wold be in use externally (some other standalone player).

Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Dvd-ram 4.7gb

DVD RAM discs don't need finalised, hence its not an available option.

They will play directly on other players -*** BUT*** ONLY DVD

RAM players.

Don't expect your RAM disc to play on a normal

DVD+/-RW DVD +/-R device. Its not going to happen unless the

device supports DVD RAM also. If it does, it will play your RAM

disc once you've finished recording in your own DVD RAM

recording unit. Pop it out of your unit, straight into the other, and

the jobs done.
