what's the indicator? no boot? no video? no beep (codes)? remember that heat's the main enemy regarding mb's. how old is your sys? when's the last time that box was blown out via compressed air (to rid it of dust)? never? could be a blown mb/cpu (however cpu failure is very rare). oh. ALWAYS pull the power cord BEFORE plugging/unplugging ANYTHING that is NOT designed "hot-swappable" (such as USB/Z
Firewire). thus if YOU'VE done that the situation may not bode well for your mb. reason? most mb's designed in the past 10 years power up via "soft" button (line voltage is NOT present at the power switch... only VDC). result? your mb ALWAYS has stand-by applied IF the power cord is plugged in AND the power supply switch is on (if one exists).

You don't say how you cleaned the motherboard. It only takes a small knock or static spark to kill electronics. PCI and I/O control is done by a chip on the motherboard and if this is fried you will need a new motherboard. The only way to check is with specialist hardware. take it to a computer repair specialist ( not PC world- too expensive) the cmos battery shouldn't have needed replacement after a maximum of 5 years. I have batteries that have lasted over 20 years. incidentally if you have replaced the cmos battery you would have to setup the bios again anyway.

The BIOS chip no longer remembers the settings - this is a sign that the motherboard is nearing death.
Replace it now before it fries the rest of the components.

At least the motherboard is fried. My guess is that everything in it is dead since when a motherboard dies a nasty death like this it drags down everything with it.
Lesson for the future: if there's even the slightest whiff of water near some sensitive electronics then disconnect it from the power until you are ABSOLUTELY sure the water is gone.

Bad motherboard or power supply which fries motherboard

Gateway hasn't had any recalls on it that I know of. maybe it is not the mother board. It might be the hard drive. Hard drives can do that aswell. When I fix a computer the first thing I check is the hard drive. A little bit of advice with computers. Start with the small things first and work Your way up to the big stuff. Hope that helps.

My motherboard is fried.

Check out Newegg.com or some of the other sites like it. You can get a motherboard but you will need to know what you're doing to get it all back up and running correctly. If you aren't sure have somebody do it for you. The boards are actually pretty cheap but it depends on what else you may need to go with it.

Can't turn on computer

you may try:
1)open cover take out all exterior devices like cdrom/HD/PCI card/AGPcard then power on, go next if nothing change.
2)open cover see any fan turning when power on , if nothing run, check biger power supply plug pin(Ps-on and 5Vsb)all at 5V are OK, less than 3V or nothing is power supply box damage. change new power box to test. still same trouble go next
2)open cover you can see a LED light on on the motherboard
and check power on button is working well(switch).
3) check all biger capacitor top, any one bulged shows motherboard DC damage and need to repair by PC specialist.
4) nothing change above, you have to change motherboard.

gateways are not that good of a pc, they are only built to last about a year (they won't tell you this of course) the best thing you can do at this time is buy extended warranty on the laptop, wait about 2 weeks and send it in for repair, it will work out much cheaper than having to replace the motherboard

Hp pavilion m7330n motherboard issue

The system in question requires motherboard model ms-7184 and can be found on ebay for less than $100.  If your repair guy used a different motherboard you will get the issues described and need to reinstall the OS.  It is impracticle to put any more than $200 in most desktop computers more than 2 years old, your repair guy should have advised you of this straight off.  Find a new person to take your equipment.

Motherboard keeps frying. Original and replacement have both gone bad. Any help appreciated.

Have you checked to make sure your power supply hasnt got a fault. In the event of a motherboard fry up, the power supply should be checked and if in doubt change.
