Electrolux Canister - Stops working after 1-2 minutes.
Our vac works for a short time, then shuts off and makes clicking noise as if trying to restart again. Works after cooling for a while but for another very short time. Your suggestion on fix would be greatly appreciated.

Electrolux Canister - Stops working after 1-2... Our vac works for a short time, then shuts off and makes clicking noise as if trying to restart again. Works after cooling for a while but for another very short time. Your suggestion on fix would be greatly appreciated. Thanks I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure
I would advise that it could be a thermal switch or a regular switch that the thermal switch is over heating and needs replacement – there are small hoses in the door section that could have been pinched or kinked and it stopping the air flow from the vacuum – also check for a clogged or plugged vacuum hose, a full vacuum bag or a dirty vacuum filter. Check the thermal switch or reg switch or the hoses in the door. Or feel free to contact your local vacuum dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or call the factory @ the phone number listed below: http://electrolux.comCustomer Service Electrolux Home Care Products – North America PO Box 3900Peoria, IL61612 1-800-896-9756

ok, you need to bypass the auto shut of. Put the vac on it's side and pull off the sliders on both sides.Carefully pull machine apart.lift the front of the piece that hold you bag.Underneathe there is a clear tube plugged in to a round thing on switch area.Simply pull the tube out of the rouind trhing. This will allow you to fillthe bag without shut dow.Just make sure your bag doesn't get too full....Chris
Shake the bag if you've been cleaning up "fine" carpet freshener powder, drywall dust or anything extra fine as it clogs the pours of the bag and the machine stops thinking the bag is full. If this doesn't work, you'll have to have the control valve on top cleaned or replaced to correct the issue. Hope that helps!
That problem have 2 causes..#1 is loose electrical connection inside or on the power cord..#2 is worn out carbon brush inside of vacuum motor..
Carbon brush is the one of the most serviceable parts of a vacuum cleaner because our vacuum cleaner motor is very hard working parts so the brush inside will possible worn or not connected to the armature of rotor...
This is exactly the symptom you would expect from a defective bag control valve. The actual control valve sits under the dial on top of the vac and often cracks internally. It can be replaced in about 15 minutes by a good tech with genuine parts from AERUS Elctrolux dealer or repair center. You can open the vac front to rear like a **** shell by sliding the bumpers out the front with the bag door open, however you must be careful not to disturb the wiring harness and to mark wiring locations. The body must be carefully realigned for closure. If it is not perfect you will not be able to slide the bumpers back in.
Have you ever over the years replaced your brushroll ? Have you tried dropping a coin thru the hose from one end to see if it comes out the other end ? Have you taken the wand loose from the elbow ( the swivel part of your carpet sweeper) to see if there was a blockage ? Does the motor make a strange noise ? Have you ever had a tune-up on your vac.
You might think about taking your vac to your Aerus/Electrolux shop.
It sounds like you have a blockage somewhere and the air is not passing over the motor to keep it cool. There is usually a thermostat mounted either on or near the motor. The blockage can be anywhere from the elbow ( the swivel part of your carpet sweeper if you have a canister vac) up thru the hose.If you have a canister vac, use a broom handle to push through the hose to clear the blockage. DO NOT ! use a coat hanger or anything that will cut or tare the hose. There are electrical wires in it that have 120 volts and causes quite a shock !
If you have an upright vac, start with the duct hose that comes from the part with the brush up to the hose and on to the main canister of the vac
If this does not work, take your vac to a reputable vac shop for repair. Hope this helps,
http://geeksquad.fixya.com/ThreadView.aspx?prdid=0&thid=689886 Generic problem for all Vacuums I have Electrolux canister vac. Posted by wmcox on Jun 20, 2008 I have Electrolux canister vac. The suction end pops open every time it loads up. Hello, I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. In the door there are vacuum lines that could be pinched or bent and are not letting air through to the bag, the system is designed that if the bag get to full or the air flow is restricted it will pop the door open and save the motor from burn out. This is repairable and nor to expensive and to check with the local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or to call the Electrolux cust serv @ the factory for further information. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions. http://electrolux.com/Customer Service1-800-896-9756 Electrolux Home Care Products – North America P.O.
