Question about Uniden BC340CRS Base Scanner
Rotate the knob counter clockwise to close the squelch. If this does not work, remove the knob by pulling it off gently and make sure the "pot" is turning with the knob. Verify the knob and "pot" are not damaged.

I am having the same problem... It is "stuck" in an open squelch.. however, if you put in WX mode works fine... so it must be something other then an open squelch problem..

provided you turned the squelch know and it didnt help, i would trace back from the squelch control to the first and second transistor you come to and that should be the squelch circuit. if you know how to check them with an ohm meter you can find out which one it is, if not you can just replace them both for under 5 bucks.
