Question about Toshiba TEC BSX5 Thermal Label Printer

1 Answer

Software reloaded = Teklynx Labelview Drivers reloaded My tech here covered the sensor window with a post-it note and the ?no paper? error went and I could ?feed? the stock OK The post-it note was too thick and so was replaced with clear sticky which had texta on it ? this also allowed me to ?feed? paper with no problem But when I try to print I get a ?paper jam? error. The sticky has been removed and boot up to do a ?test print? and all is OK until the print is to be done then ?no paper? error It does not make any difference which type of sensor is set in the machine it comes up with the same error. His diagnosis was that the sensor is probably at fault. It is a Toshiba SX5

Your issue will be much simpler than a faulty sensor, please
make sure you have the right printer driver installed, please follow the steps
    below.

Open labelview, go to File -> Select Printer, in the small
drop down window you should see TEC B572 – (V) on LPT1 or very similar, if you
do not see that click the install button.

In the installation window scroll down to TEC in the
    manufacturers list

On the bottom right hand side make sure that Native Drivers check
box has a tick in it, and that the Extended Drivers check box does not.

In the list above (printer Models) select the TEC B572 – (V)
    model.

Once selected click on the install button, it will then appear
in the installed printers list above.

Click the connect button and select which port you have the
    printer connected to.

At this point you will have the right printer driver installed.

Now open your label format and click on Edit -> Label Setup

Make sure that the Width and Height match your measured label
    size.

Click on the Options tab, make sure the Sensor Type says GAP,
and that the Ribbon option says YES (if you are using a ribbon, if no ribbon
    then select NO)

Now all you need to do is make sure the printer is loaded
correctly, make sure that if you are using a ribbon that it is installed
properly, going between the 2 upper printer compartments on a 45 degree angle,
then print some labels, it is always recommended that you print more than one
label, giving the printer a chance to line the labels up on it own.

i followed this twice and could see the online light flicker as the file came through but it then went to 'no paper' i then did a threshold set and fed through about 10 label rows but in the end the result is the same - no paper error.

I looked this problem up on the net, and ran across this web blog. They suggest a procedure to try, and maybe it will help you:
http://www.centurysystems.com/techsup/faq/tecfaqs.htm#3
If that doesn't help, the sensor could be bad, and needling replacement.
Good luck, and hope this helps.

That's always hard to say, since the sensor could be bad, but also, the software detecting it can also fail, or hang up in some state where the cpu always thinks the sensors not detecting the paper. I have some things to do right now, but I will research this problem later, and get back with you. I'm suspecting there may be two sensors now, but I'm just guessing, since two sensors would explain why covering the first sensor, the paper fed, but then no paper was detected. That makes me think it's a software hangup or 2nd sensor. Will get back on this later today.

    Errors with my Printer/scaner

    Jessica:

This could be one of a few things... First, Windows 8 is a completely different animal from Windows XP! Try reloading your printer driver in Windows 8. If this doesn\'t work, you need to clean the paper pickup rollers at the front of the printer (where the paper first feeds into the machine. I use a Q-tip moistened (not sopping wet) with rubbing alcohol... gently scrub the whole pickup roller and then the feed roller next to it. Check carefully (with a flashlight) for any shards of paper that might be blocking the paper path. There is also a sensor flag (small finger of plastic) sticking up that the paper must hit to let the printer know that the paper is feeding through. If you do not see the sensor flag, it is either jammed or has been broken off when a piece of paper was pulled backward out of the paper feed area. First reload the printer driver, and try to print. If it doesn\'t print, check and clean the rollers and look for the sensor flag.

Is it possible to view prints sent to a Intermec PM4i printer? Reason is we are testing label printing to a label printer in the UK and would like to see what is being printed on line perhaps via a web...

Hi Karen - with Label Printing Software such as LabelView Pro and others from Teklynx and Bartender you can have multiple software licences that can be linked remotely if your printers are network ready. Using advanced rather than basic software you will have full control of exactly what is being printed/not only having it viewable. I hope this helps

Ive just turned on my Canon pixma mp250 printer and have an Error, the screen is flashing E 0 3??? have tried resetting but that hasn't had any affect.

An E3 error code in a Canon MP210 printer is frustrating. This code reflects a paper jam that is not always apparent immediately and can be indicative of other problems.

Remove the jammed paper by pulling it from the front or top of the printer. If it does not come out, restart the printer to eject the paper. If the paper fails to come out or rips, remove the cover and retry. Once you have removed all visible paper, check paper sensor paths for debris or damage, blowing it out as needed.

Reload the paper as recommended and print a test page using the printer's software. If the error continues, the sensor that generates the error may be damaged. If so, take your printer to an authorized service center.

Printer keeps saying it has a paper jam and to remove the jam from the back. There is nothing there! I think it just wants me to open and close the rear door, but that only fixes it sometimes. How do I...

This error message is displayed by the printer when paper is jammed in one or more locations. In such a case, users are recommended to remove the jammed paper from the specified location. The entire paper path must be checked for any pieces of paper. To stop the message, open and close the top most cover of the printer. Lastly, verify the flags and the sensors. If the problem persists, the cause of the error message could be a broken sensor or sensor lever.

The traingle is flashing orange the rest not flashing. the printer does not print

In the Attention state, the Attention light is blinking and the Go and Ready lights are off. This state can be reached in the following circumstances:

    ● Paper tray is empty
    ● Door open
    ● Toner Cartridge Missing
    ● Paper jam/ Tray Misfeed

Pressing Go attempts to reset after a jam is cleared or is ignored in the other error cases. It may be necessary to clear the error manually and press Go or close the top cover. If the error still persists, the device will return to the Attention state.

    Note
The LJ1010 product series does not have paper out sensors. When the printer is in an Attention state because the paper tray is empty, the user must reload paper and press Go.

    Qms 2200 paper mismatch error

    Initial Thoughts
The problem seems to be a fault in a paper feed sensor. This would explain the size mismatch, since these sensors are how the printer detects the paper size. And, it would explain why printing starts two-thirds down the page, since these sensors are also used in timing where on the page to start printing.

However, a document passes through three software applications before it actually prints. And, any one of them could be causing the paper size mismatch.

    Insight
Although paper sensors are usually low-tech and easy to remedy, they are often difficult to find and can sometimes be difficult to get to. Most such sensors are simple switches (toggles) and others are optical sensors that work like the electric eye of a garage door opening system. And, the solution may be as simple as a tiny piece of paper stuck on one of them. However, sensors such as these are quite numerous on this printer and can be hidden anywhere.

The three software applications I referred to are:

    1. The document rendering application, such as Adobe Reader, Microsoft Word, etc.

    2. The print writer. This is part of the device driver software package. It breaks up a print request and converts it to a standard format that the printer will always recognize and manages transmission of each page to the system spooler or directly to the printer.

    3. The printer firmware. I'm not sure of everything this does related to the print stream. But, part of it must manage resources, such as ensuring the right size paper is being fed.
