Just open Printers in Control Panel and select HP in the left pane and scroll through the list in the right pane. Windows 7 has embedded drivers

HP LaserJet 1022 is a "host-based" printer so it must be connected to a PC. Load the driver on PC first and connect the USB cable when software tells you to do so.

Will not work on a Linksys print server.

LaserJet 1022N & LaserJet 1022NW have "special" HP print servers that can support HP host based printers.

I bought a new HP computer and it didnt have a serial port included in it. I purchased a secondary PCI Express card that gave me two serial ports. They are programmed in as com port 1 &2. They show...

Serial connection eh? Any reason you went with serial instead of parallel? The cards likely sell for about the same price or you could just buy a USB to parallel cable that would allow you to hook up a USB port of your computer to the parallel port on the printer.

The reason that it looks like the job disappears is likely due to the fact that the serial bus is not supporting bidirectional printing so the printer cannot acknowledge that it has received the job.

HP 5P wont print on Vista

I deleted the email but still have the hard copy, so here goes. This worked with my 14 year old hp and a Dynex USB-Parallel cable.
1. Plug the printer to the USB-parallel printer cable and turn on printer.
2. Plug USB end to USB port on you computer.
3. When you do this, the computer will recognize the cable.
4. Go to Control Panel/Hardware/Device Manager/USB Controllers.
5. Make a click on the + icon and check if you have USB Printing Support
(If you are not able to locate it, unplug cable from USB port and plug it
back in, so you will see something that's new on the Serial Bus
Controllers).
6. Make a double click on USB Printing Support to open a new window
and look for device status. You should see a message "This device is
working properly".

Now you need to open a new com port for the printer:
1. Go to Control Panel and click printers & faxes.
2. You will see an icon there with the name of your printer, make a right
click over it and go to Properties.
3. Select the Port tab and on the display menu select Virtual USB Port.
If you have more than one select no. 1 first. If it does not work, select
Virtual USB Port, and so on. (The virtual port will depend exclusively on
what the printer requires).
4. Click Apply and try to print a test page.

I first hooked this up putting the USB cable into a port on the front of the computer and it worked fine. I then moved it to the back of the computer and it did not work, so I just had to go to the process again until I found a USB prt that worked. It has worked just fine ever since. This solution was given to me by Dynex Prodlucts customer care team. I am no techie and don't understand any of it, but I can follow instructions and it was successful. Gool luck.

Vista will not print to HP Laserjet 5p

I purchased a Dynex USB to Parallel Converter Cable from Best Buy and tried to connect but had no success. I then sent an email to Dynex customer service and received a reply in about 24 hours. The rep provided spot on instructions which I was able to follow to a tee. My 14 year old HP Laserjet 5P is now ready to run until it blows up.

I spent hours searching web forums and only received overcomplicated replies by people who think they are techies, none of which worked. I am 63 years old and not a techie, so if I can do it, anyone can. I have saved the email and will forward this straightforward simple fix to anyone who needs it. My net cost was $36.00 for the cable.

LaserJet 6L with Vista using Parallel to USB Cable

It can be done tested by Thoo personally 6L printer prints well on vista too
The printer end should be connected to 25 pin parallel cable, converted to the USB on the notebook end of the wiring
To solve your printing problems locate vista driver, since i have tested vista works fine on HP 6L printers
make sure you select the correct O/S and assign in to the USB virtual port 05

HP Laser Jet 1320n series

The HP LaserJet 1320 has a USB port and a Parallel port.

The HP LaserJet 1320n has a USB port and an Ethernet port.

USB-to-Parallel converter cables, like this one, are designed to attach a parallel device to a computer's USB port.

But you need to do the opposite (attach a USB device to a computer's parallel port). A USB-to-Parallel converter cable will not do this.
