I think my mower is doing the same thing. There is no fuel getting to the carb but there is fuel being pumped through the filter. I took the bowl off the carb hoping I would find an obvious problem but nothing looked out of place. Get this, when I put the bowl back on the carb, it started! I mowed the lawn thinking I inadvertantly fixed the problem. A week later I went to mow again and the same thing happened agian, it wouldn't start. So, I did the same thing and took the bowl off the carb, looked at it and again nothing looked out of place, put the bowl back on and again, it started!

I think the float is somehow sticking. When I look at the inside of the bowl it has slight vertical rub marks as if the float is rubbing and possibly sticking to the side of the bowl but why would it start doing this after two years? I'm no expert technician but I know floats don't grow and bowls don't shrink. Hopefully someone out there will have a solution for both of us...any takers?

The electrical part on the bottom of the carb is a fuel shut off solenoid. When you turn the key on, the plunger inside this mechanism retracts, allowing fuel to enter the carb. If you remove this it is easy to bench test with an alternate power source. Hope this helps.

My b&s 6.5hp log splitter wont stay running unless i spray gas directly into the carb... this is where it's get funny, i took a carb off my

If your gas is E-10 then there is a strong possibility that the line from the tank is blocked, also could be a filter and even sludge in the gas tank all caused by E-10 seperating and becoming thick.

You have a clog in the gas flowing into the carburetor. Get some carb cleaner (the spray kind is fine). Drain or siphon the gas out of your mower and discard. Put a little fresh gas and a little carb cleaner in the tank. Run it through. Do this a few times if necessary. When you get new gas, add a gas stabilizer like Sea Foam.

Try to start mower and turns over but wont start unless you pour gas in carb then it will start and run fine. 1648s scotts mower with a kohler motor.

Does it continue to run after you start it by pouring gas into the carburetor or does it die again?

If it continues to run, it sounds like your choke is not working. Probably disconnected -- check linkage.
