If you want to set the machine back to factory settings do the following... switch the machine OFF.
While holding down the Margin Release key switch the power back ON. The machine will begin typing a pre-programmed test page....let it run for 5 seconds...switch the machine back OFF.
Give it 5 seconds and switch it back On and settings will be back to factory settings...be aware this will clear all memory of any docs or info you had in memory.
Nothing simple that I know of will cause this problem. If you don't have anything saved in memory you can remove the batteries, let set for 30 seconds and turn it on this will reset to defalt settings. THIS WILL CLEAR THE MEMORY!
I was able to reach someone at Brother. He said that the typewriter does not store the margins and tabs. Seems unusual to me, but I guess I will have to take his word for it unless someone out there knows something different.
