The belt is a little tough to change because you need to get around the "drum" It is often easier to slide it in from the front, without removing the rear bearing support. Your local "yellow pages" should show where to get it...appliances/ parts. Often is is much easier (and chearer) to buy a garage sale one or look for local ones on www.ebay.com or www.craigslist.com

Kenmore electric dryer makes loud rumbing noises when i turn it on? what could it be?

My experience with the Kenmore dryers making this sound is caused by bad guide wheels and/ or a belt coming apart. The guide wheels have rubber tires and wear or start coming apart.

Re-build kits for these machines are available and include new felt basket seal, 2 guide wheels and bearing bolts. A new belt is often included in these kits. These components are simple and fairly straightforward to replace and are inexpensive compared to a new dryer.

If it is heating well keep the element but clean it. CLEAN all the interior of the machine including the air-flow from intake, blower, filter and exhaust hose to the outside of your house.

You will get a lot more quiet, efficient service from a clean machine. Enjoy

The belt on my dryer broke I need to know how to replace it

This site has a good illustrated procedure to follow for changing your belt. (The site says Whirlpool, but it's the same for Kenmore.) It's not a tough job if you're patient and comfortable with simple tools (like a screwdriver). The same site sells the parts, and you can usually find the belt locally at a well-stocked appliance parts store.

Good luck with the repair, and thanks for using Fixya!

I have a used Kenmore Series 80 dryer & the drum stopped turning

Good day,
Not hard to do but check the 2 rear wheels that support the drum and change at the same time if needed. Inspect the belt tensioner as well.
Here's a good tutorial on the belt change.

Belt replacment

Here is a diagram from kenmore corp. that should help you out
Maytag Dryer Belt Routing

route4.gif
This is the most common belt routing found on most Maytag brands clothes dryers.

Since you will have everything disassembled to change the belt, this is an excellent opportunity to vacuum out the cabinet to remove dust and lint and perform preventative maintenance on your dryer. When replacing the Belt is is a good idea to also change the Drum Support Rollers, Drum Glides, Idler Pulley and Clips. All of these items are easily changeable when replacing the belt. The upside is that your dryer will operate like new.

How do i?

Hello Friend, Replacing a dryer belt is very simple. Just remove front of dryer cabinet. unplug wires from dryer door switch. Just slide a new belt over the drum with the belt grooves facing to the inside. Underneath drum you will see a tention wheel next to motor. Install belt around tention wheel and around motor shaft pully. Re-install front dryer cabinet. Make sure to plug in the wires to the door switch and make sure that the drum is re-inserted back over the felt glide on inner cabinet front. Happy to help, Tim.

Amana dryer dle330raw tenson on belt

Usually very simple. You need to get the diagram for our model. Most dryer belts go around the drum, around the tensioner pulley and around the motor pulley. You need to take off the front, top and rear panel depending on model. I can change mine in about 15 minutes complete job.

Kenmore dryer electric doesnt start

It sounds like the dryer drum belt is broken

there is a drive belt that goes all the way around the dryer drum and when you press start the drum starts turning unless teh belt is off or broken

You can change the belt or call and have service technician change it
