Casio Exilim Pro EX-P600 - lens won't retract or come out

Camera powers up and immediately powers down. Battery fully charged.

It's like an internal glitch. Any ideas on this one?

Guys - I know this sounds absolutely bizarre but I recently had this problem with my casio exilim ex p600 (with the lens sticking when powering down and not powering back up again) and it worked for me. Pulling my hair out trying anything and everything, I decided to take the SD card out, turn the camera on (at which point hopefully your lens will go back in) then turn the camera off again, Put the SD card back in and hey presto everything ok! Doesn't make any techincal sense (and I'm semi into these things) but the lens sticking\not powering up and happened to me twice now in last few months and that sequence of events is the only thing I could do to solve it! If that doesn't crack it try taking both the SD card and the battery out and doing the same. Good luck...apologies if it doesn't work for any of you guys but it did work for me :o) Let me know how you get on when\if you try it.

Yes, we have this problem too... and just out of warenty :(... any help would be great.
Does anyone know of a hardware reset for this camera...
Also i managed to get the firmware to show by holding menu and pressing power on... (fireware is 1.01) although an update is available.

When power button is pressed the lens cover tries to open and then switches off... the LCD backlight comes on, but no picture... so we can't even access the menu to update the firmware...

Please help,

David and Dad (Michael)

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

When i turn the camera on, the lens extends out from the camera and immediately retracts, turning the camera off. the battery is charged fully. the camera is a casio exilim ex-z300

you might have put your camera down which would have caused the lens array to be damaged.please take your cam to the nearest service center.please do not try to disassemble your camera unless you know how to do it.
i am telling this because most of the people try to change the defected part alone after getting the new one through eBay. this causes the cam to be de-calibrated affecting the performance as well as the quality.so, my kind advice is to take it to the nearest service center and if its within one year of purchase, it is free of service charge.
thanks.

Casio exilim lens retracts wen u press to take pic

The battery probably needs charging. The camera will automatically shut down if the battery is going flat.
With the Exilim you need to make sure that you don't overcharge the battery by leaving it permanently docked in it's little docking station - this can damage the battery. There is an LED on the docking station which shows the status of the battery. Red is charging, green is fully charged - take it off the docking station.

Ex p600 zoom does not realy work

I had this problem and it was because I removed the bezel around the outside of the lens so I could use an extension tube on the front of the camera.

There is a small pin on the front that needs to pressed in. The pin is only visible if the bezel is removed.

I hope this helps

Casio Exilim EX-S880 won't turn on, lens clicks

Do you have a mem card installed? If so what size? Make sure it is the right size for your camera. Also make sure the battery is fully charged. The lens clicking twice makes me believe that there was some kind of damage done to the lens like maybe accident powering on when it wasn't supposed to like in a pocket or something. You may have to send it in. Expecially if it says "lens error".

That is a lens error code. It needs servicing or replacement. I repair these all the time. and know that this is common with most digital cameras.
