No, the oil only covers about 1/4 of the gulf, 3/4 is plenty for a healthy evaporation process.

Water in oil of John Deere L108. Causes?

If the mower was sitting outside and the ambient temperature is hit during the day and cold at nite, the engine and the the fuel system can be affected by condensation. If you are in a humid climate the effects will be sooner.'usually when you run an engine the heat of the engine will evaporate any moisture, but if it has been sitting for a while you can develop water in the oil. Or someone left it outside with the oil dipstick out or loose in the rain. Hope this helps.

I need to know an example of each part of the water cycle listed below: a. Evaporation b. Precipitation c. Runoff d. Condensation e. Transpiration

Hi Stan:

Evaporation - Hot sun shining on damp ground in morning. The moisture on the ground EVAPORATES as the ground dries.

Precipitation - Rain falling onto the ground is PRECIPITATION

RUNOFF - When rain falls onto the ground, some of it is absorbed into the ground. The portion that is NOT absorbed becomes RUNOFF in that it runs off the surface that it fell on.

CONDENSATION - Air contains water vapour, and the higher the temperature, the more water vapour it is capable of containing. This is expressed as relative humidity. When warm air that contains lots of water vapour is cooled, there will be a temperature reached where it cannot contain all of the water vapour that is present, so the excess water vapour CONDENSES on cooler surfaces. This process is called condensation.

If you Google TRANSPIRATION you will get a link to Wikipedia where you can read the definition. If you have problems with my explanations, you can also use Wikipedia to get the formal definitions.

I am finding brown flakes behind my whirlpool refrigerator. Why is this happening and how can I stop it? There is no ice or water dispensor on my refrigerator.

Hi Aaron !
I believe the brown flakes you are finding are coming from evaporated condensation. Let me explain ! As warm air and product hold more moisture then cold air or product when the door is opened and closed cold air in the fridge falls out and warm or ambient air replaces it. ( warm air rises and cold air falls ) The refrigeration process has an evaporator on the inside that is essentially colder than the temp you are maintaining the fridge at. Moisture is drawn out of the air and product and freezes to the evaporator thus drying the air in the fridge. When the compressor cuts out and the ice melts the moisture goes down the drain pipe and either collects in a container on top of the compressor or in a tray that has heated pipes from the refrigeration process through it. The moisture is then evaporated and leaving only the impurities of the air, dust and/or wet spills in the fridge. If you have a fan under you fridge or a breeze goes through there it is easily disturbed. Not a lot you can do as it is a part of the process. Wipe up spills, reduce door open times and keep door seal cleaned with warmed soapy water. Check fridge is level and square and doors close tight. Hope this helps tiger !

Oil in radiator but no water in oil

Engine oil or transmission fluid? Many radiators have a transmission cooler built inside them. Trans fluid can also produce an oily sheen on top of the coolant

What is a water tank used for?

It can be used for storing rain water off a roof for drinking water or watering animal stock where there is no town mains water supply in the country.
Rain water tank can be used to water gardens in urban areas to save money so you don't use town mains water.

Water is going somewhere on a 99 gr prix 3.1 no leaks but white gunk under oil cap. No smoke or oil in water. but i think their is water in oil. is that a head gasket problem?

If there is water in the oil, yes it most likely a head gasket/cracked head/block problem. Check the oil level on the dipstick. Is the oil level indicated too high? Drain the oil completely into a clear container and let it set overnight and see if water separates out from the oil. The white gunk is a sign of moisture in the crankcase. Short driving trips may cause this also as the motor doesn't get warm enough to evaporate the normal moisture out of the oil.

In plain English, the Percentage setting on your de-humidifier is the percentage of moisture that you want to maintain in the air. Relative humidity level range from about 10% (VERY dry air) to almost 100% (VERY damp air). When relative humidity is 100%, water vapor in the air will turn into rain, condensation, dew, snow or frost. 50% humidity is usually a comfortable level, but that will also depend on air temperature. The more moisture there is in the air, the warmer it feels and conversely. Warm air will hold more moisture than cooler air.

Your body is cooled when moisture on your skin evaporates into the air, carrying body heat with it. As the humidity in the air rises, less of your body moisture is able to evaporate and thus your body feels wamer. Lower humidty allows moisture from your body to evaporate more quickly and you feel cooler, both at the exact same temperature.

Evaporative cooler not getting water from water line

The pump is probably gone. the way it works is a float allows the water level to stay the same in the reservoir so check that. Water is pumped up to the hoghair and trickles down into it. A big old blower pulls the wet outside air into the room. We call that one a swamp cooler down here on the gulf. Go outside and spray some water on the unit to cool down the house till you can get the pump replaced.
