I'm assuming you mean whe you thread the strainer basket pot into the pump and tighten it it ends up being 90 degrees off center? That means you cannot turn it and additional 270 degree. Unthread and wrap multiplul wraps of teflon tape onto threads. Then I'd add lightly add some pipe dope. Tighten the assembly up, but stop when it is snug and aligned. The combination tape and dope should keep it from leaking, but remember this would be a suction leak, so check carefully

I installed a complete hayward filter with a new multiport valve. i can see DE in my pool. what would cause this? Thanks for your help.

If these Hayward pool filters are leaking DE back into the pool, there are a couple things that you will want to check. Check for loose bolts on tube nest plates and tighten them if necessary. Make sure that you don't have a worn or loose fitting diaphragm gasket and that there are no rips and holes in it. Replace the gasket if any of these is the problem. Check for openings or tears in one or more Flex-
Tubes and replace them if necessary.

Where is the button to turn the discharge from vertical to horizontal? The manual states to "simply push the positioning button and rotate" - can't seem to locate the button!

Press the positioning button located on pump housing and rotate discharge port to desired position.

Note: the Discharge port will only rotate 1/4 turn.
