Question about Printers & Copiers

2 Answers

No power to MP530, about three months old. Power plug in strip. USB connection to Mac Os10. No idea what happened. Plugs for other things in strip activating them, e.g., modem, etc. Absolutely dead. Thanks. Tim. 425-353-3854. Mukilteo WA (near Everett).

If the printer is only 3 months old, still under manufacturers warranty. Call the manufacturers and ask for an authorized service center to get it repair.

Dont no weather i have got it plugged in rights

The Epson C64 should be straightforward with respect to plugging the machine in, since the connection is USB. The USB cable plugs into a USB port on your computer and the power cord plugs into a wall outlet.
Perhaps the trickiest thing is determining the software needed to allow the printer to work properly. The software needed is determined by your operating system, e.g. Mac OS, Windows XP, Windows 7, etc.

Error code U052. I know this has to do with the chip in the ink cartridge. I changed all cartridges and still the same code. I cannot use any function on this MP530 with this error code.

Please remove all cartridges. Using a moist cloth clean the golden contacts on cartridge as well as printer. DO NOT touch nozzle of cartridge. Dont insert the cartridge yet.

Please do this :
1. Remove the power cable from printer. Remove the USB cable that connects printer to computer (remove it from printer as well as computer's usb port)
2. Press the printer power button and keep pressed for 3 minutes then release
3. Now plug in the power cable and usb cable (connect printer to computer) and power on the printer.

Now insert cartridges and see if error goes away.

We relocated our Zebra S4M to the new area and it

Have you tried resetting the printserver? I am assuming this is a networked printer when you say the red light on the back. There is a little button on the printserver. Turn printer off, and while pressing that little button in with a paperclip, turn the printer on and continue holding in the button until the light is a solid green. Could take a minute or two depending on the network.

MP530 PGBK not recognized

1. UNplug printer at outlet or power strip & wait a full minute.
2. Plug back in and check if ok now.
=========
1. remove cartridge; look for "spit wad" stuck onto the cartridge or in the cartridge cavity in printer.
=========
1. If of the above neither works; use a new cartridge, but don't discard old one.

It doesnt turn on!!

You might want to check if it's just a bad power connection first, because a new adapter isn't cheap. They cost about 60 bucks plus shipping from the HP parts department:

http://h20141.www2.hp.com/hpparts/Cart.asp?mscssid=X5RP3M7TBGKQ9H7055FS88LMF259DGG9&NotBulk=&NotFound=&NotOrderable=

Before you shell out that kind of dough, I recommend you first eliminate the obvious like a bad surge suppressor or power strip. Sometimes, one of the outlets in a multi-outlet power strip can go bad and cause just one of the devices plugged in to lose power. It actually happened to me once with a brand spanking new surge suppressor I purchased and I had to go back to the store and get it replaced under the warranty. So, be sure to check by plugging your printer into a different outlet.

If nothing's wrong with your power strip and AC power cord, the next thing to check is the power connector that plugs into the back of your printer. It has three contacts on it, which means there are three points of failure. Unplug it and plug it back in. Wiggle the connector a little, mumble "I hate this stupid printer", and then observe the printer's power light.

Still nothing? Well, if you're feeling a little adventurous and have a basic understanding of how electronic circuits work, you can check the AC adapter to see if it's really dead. You do this by testing the DC outputs of the adapter with a multimeter. Don't have a multimeter? You can either borrow one from a geek friend, or buy your own for about twenty bucks at Radio Shack (get a cheapie model - nothing fancy). IMHO, everyone should own a multimeter. They come in handy for checking batteries and bad connections in low voltage wiring. After you learn to use one, you'll wonder how you ever got along without it.

Anyway, getting back to the printer, the AC adapter has a dual DC voltage output with three pins. The center pin is ground and the two on either side are positive voltages (+36 volts and +16 volts). If the AC adapter is good, your multimeter will indicate at or slightly less than these voltages when tested, around +35v and +15v. A good voltage reading tells you that the AC adapter is probably okay. In that case, the problem is inside the printer itself and buying a new adapter would be a waste of money. At this point, it's pretty safe to conclude that the old mule has finally kicked the bucket.

Hope this helps.

HP L7580 just went blank ??

Does it make any noises or signs of life if you cycle the power?

Is this unit mains powered or does it run from the USB cable only?

If USB only try another USB port on your PC

If mains powered, check the outlet still has power, the cable is plugged into the back of printer. Some printers have a clip out PSU (usually a rectangular box that the mains cable goes into) push it in firmly as it may be loose (you may be able to clip it out and re seat it completely - ensure mains is OFF first). Check the on/off switch is in the correct position, try powering up when not connected to the PC.

Post back results so I may try and assist further.

Mp530 printer, no power , no lights or beeps

This just happened to our Canon MP530, which was about 10 months old. I called Canon support and they said they'd send a new power cord to us. Then, if that didn't work, they said they'd replace the unit. Well, turns out we found a replacement power cord ourselves and tried it - amazingly, the printer now works. So if this happens to your unit, try replacing the power cord. It may just fix the problem.

There is no computer connection

If it is connected with a USB then you should try to refresh all the connections. Unplug the printer while it is on and then unplug the USB from both the printer and the computer. Wait 30 seconds. Plug the printer in directly to the wall outlet as opposed to a surge protector or a power strip to make sure it is not a power issue. Then when it is on and finished moving around plug USB into the printer first and then into the computer.

Then you may need to delete and readd the printer but try to print a job first and see if the same error comes up. I can tell you how to delete and readd but I have no idea what type of computer or OS you are using. Mac 10.4? Windows XP?

Won't power on

Yep, Stop buying this printer. I doesn't work. You think it might have anything to do with the outlet you are using. I'm thinking some type of power surge or short hit all three printers with the same outlet. Did you plug all three in the same outlet "first thing" when you got the printers home? Are you using a power strip? I find that kind of strange for all three having the same problem. How long did the last printer you bought work? You said it worked great with the old power cord. Plug something else in the outlet like a lamp and see if the cord gets hot. I know that doesn't sound much like a solution but you gotta try something. Printers are getting expensive. Let me know what you did. I'd like to get to the core of this problem.
