I have an older 30KW Generac SG 030 1800rpm running on Nat Gas which I bought used. It has set up for several years. I installed a new PN0830890SRV master control board I bought from the local Generac dealer. I have a 1" 5 psi supply line of natural gas connected to a 11"WC regulator at the skid. I have also installed a new secondary regulator which drops the gas pressure to the carb. to 3-6"WC. I set the no load rpm on the governor down about 1050rpm until I checked out the system. The engine starts and runs for about 20seconds then shuts down on overspeed. I attached my Fluke to the output of the magnet speed pickup on the flywheel and I get a 3.4KHz output to the control panel. The unit shuts down repetively after 20 seconds. Does the new control board have a 1800 / 3600rpm selector? Do you have additional troubleshooting suggestions. Thanks, David in Houston.

Need to calibrate the main control board. 83089. also is it overspeed or overcrank? if the board does not see the right rpm or is blow a certain threshold it will think it has not started yet and shut down on overcrank.

SOURCE: Attempted to start Generac Guardian 15 kw air

I work on these every day. Its either gonna be the rotor or stater, the voltage regulator, but most likely its a bad stepper motor which is the throttle motor, or control board. Thats all that could be causing that so its one of those. If its the rotor or stater thats bad it causes the generator to RPM up because it thinks its not producing enough power due to that. I had the same problem with the same one we just fixed and it was the slip rings on the end of the rotor so bad rotor.

I bought A brand new GENERAC GP6500 portable generator and it will only run for about 5-10 seconds before it stalls out.

Hi,

Please make sure that you're running the generator outside and that you've placed it in a position that's recommended by the manufacturer. I'm thinking that there is a safety protection (shutdown) being triggered by your generator because something is not setup properly.

Please call Generac for clarification on the issue: (678) 885-9751. Thank you.

Generac 16kw generator starts on its own in automatic mode

Check the wiring from the utility through to the autostart control.; make sure all connections are solid and the wire itself is in good condition. New wire is no guarantee, several times I've had wire with a break somewhere in the reel. A non-contact voltage detector may helpful; start at the controller end, go to the other end of the wire, and see where you lose the voltage detect. It will detect voltage up to the break if you can keep the detector close enough to the wire.

I have an older Jiffy 30 ice auger. The carb was gummed up so I bought a new carb. I prime it. it runs for a second then it seams to run out of gas

Carb adjustment is required for new out of box.

Check fuel lines. If several years old, just replace.

Generator alarm underspeed

When you get the under speed alarm is the generator under load? Try manually starting the generator with no load and let it run for a while, if no alarm, then put it under your home load and measure current draw (maybe have an electrician check it) if the amp draw and in rush caused by compressors, pumps motors etc are within the generator rating, check your fuel pressure, on average 8-11 WC Nat gas. Pressure may test well under no load but drop starving the engine of fuel unde rload. Underspeed is just that engine cannot make RPM/Frequency

Over crank

Over crank is just that, cranking and cranking for a timed period without a run signal. Make sure the fuel solenoid is opening and you have the correct gas pressure. Too much pressure can stop it opening. Then check you have a spark at the plugs, this will eliminate ignition, and you can re-focus on the fuel system. You didn't say it was LP or Nat gas
