When you scan something, it should either automatically save to the documents file, or will prompt for you to "save as" and allow you to rename the document scanned and let you save it in the file of your choice.

If you have the software installed for this scanner, go into the options menu of this, and look for "setup" information, or seach the help option for further details for setting up a default location for saving scanned documents.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Red and yellow streaks appear in scans, always in the same location. The scanner was cleaned but the repair person could not find any problem with the equipment. Yet the streaks persist. How do I resolve...

execute a calibration to correct the wrong color:
  1. place your photo on the scanner, with a distance of 0.25 inch from the edge of the glass
  2. open Epson scan and select Professionnal Mode
  3. select the document source
  4. select the image type
  5. uncheck thumbnail then click Prevew
  6. crop the area of the image
  7. Click zoom to fine tune the area you see the streaks
  8. select the resolution of 72 dpi
  9. scan your photo

if the problem still not solved, you need to change the scanner unit , there are many dead pixels.

How do I scan photos

Although different scanner has different option still I am giving you the general method of scanning.
Put the photo on the scanner (photo face down touching the glass of the scanner) - look the cover is perfectly placed and no light is entering inside of the scanner. Now run the scanner software - select scan item as "Photo" (other options are text or documents etc), select the option "Color" (other option is Black and white or gray ). Select the resolution more than 200 dpi (more dpi will give better output), give path where the file will be saved after scanning or keep it default, choose the file type JPEG is better (other options may be BMP, TIF etc). First you get preview - look the expected scan output - if required you adjust or lace the photo on the scanner better way - then again get preview - if you are satisfied you may select the portion out of the whole preview page for scanning - now click scan. It will give JPEG file in the specified location.

WHEN IT SCANS, IT DOESN'T GO TO THE DESKTOP, IT KEEP SCANNING. IN ORDER TO STOP IT, I HAVE TO TURN IT OFF ON THE PRINTER. IS THERE MORE FRIENDY PROGRAM ?

You have to select the location in which you want the scan to be saved. I don't have it on in front of me right now, but that's the same scanner/printer I use. I found that accessing the scanner from the utility program on the computer rather than the scan button on the 5610 is a thousand times better. If you start the scan from the scanner itself instead of the program on your printer, it will go to the default location specified by the manufacturer, likely 'my documents' or a numbered file.

Try this:

Click on the program to open it. Select the 'scan' feature. on the left hand side of the display window toward the bottom there is an option to switch the scan-to location. Click on 'Browse' and select the location you want. In your case, select 'desktop.'

Once you get used to it, it gets better. I haven't found a better program to run it.

I am looking for instructions on this product.

Step 1: Open the scanner lid and remove the Transparent Materials Adapter (TMA).
Step 2: Place your slides or negatives into the appropriate template. Follow the orientation indicated by the icons on the template.
Step 3: Tip: If you are scanning fewer than the maximum number of negatives with the TMA, cover the empty spaces with the provided light shields to avoid letting any extra light in
Step 4: Place the template on the scanner glass, aligning the arrow on the template with the indicated mark on the scanner bed.
Step 5: Close the scanner lid and press the Scan Film button (or select the Scan Film option if you're using the HP Solution Center application on your PC).
Step 6: In the Scanning from dialog box, click Change Settings.
Step 7: Under Scan Shortcut Settings, select your Scan Type (either Negatives (TMA) or Slides or Positives (TMA)).
Step 8: Under Scan To select Save to file. Then click Scan.
Step 9: Under the Save Location dialog box, click Browse and enter the destination folder of your choice. Click OK and follow any on-screen instructions to finish scanning. The scan will be sent to the destination folder you selected. s.gif s.gif

How do i scan film on my scanner

You should be able to download the manual.

http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/controller?act=DownloadDetailAct&fcategoryid=351&modelid=10242

To scan film, you'll need to first remove the white cover on the underside of the scanner lid. That is where the backlight is. Also, you must be using the ScanGear driver and NOT the WIA driver. The WIA driver does not support film scanning. Locate your film guides. These are the templates that will hold the film and are placed on the scanner glass to be scanned. Lastly, there should be a Select Source option in the scanner driver that allows you to select Film as the source.

Hope this helps.
