To try to prevent as many scratches as possible, the softest rag you can find and alcohol cut to about 60% with water.

That is what I would use, also safe for the lcd.

Compaq presario a928ca laptop has overheating problem laptop overheats within a minute & we cant put it on table also we need to put some support below so that air can pass below it.

The first thing I would do is open the case and remove the fan and heat sink for the processor. You will probably find a little "radiator" looking device clogged with dust bunnies. Clean it out good with canned air and reinstall it. Be sure to clean the processor and heat sink then reapply heat sink compound. Clean all your fans and, with the case open, power up and look at all your fans. Are they all spinning at full power. If not, replace them. Reassemble the case. You should be good.

How exactly to clean your laptop

Cleaning laptop case Cleaning the exterior portion of the laptop case can help keep the laptop looking new. The exterior case of a laptop can be cleaned by using a damp cotton cloth that has been dampened with water. It is not recommended that the exterior case of the laptop be cleaned with household cleaning solutions. However, if there is a substance on the laptop that cannot be cleaned with water, we suggest using rubbing alcohol.
Cleaning case openings
If dust, dirt, hair, or other substances are in the case openings, it can prevent air from getting into or out of the laptop. This can cause the overall heat of the laptop to increase, and in some cases may also cause such issues as random reboots.
Look for laptop openings where the laptop draws in cool air from outside or blows out any hot air from the inside of the laptop. These openings are usually on one of the sides, the back, or the bottom of the laptop. Dust, dirt, hair, or other substances can almost always be removed easily using a cotton swab and/or compressed air.
Warning: If you're using compressed air to clean the openings that have fans within them, it's possible that the amount of air blown on the fans can cause them to over spin, damaging or destroying the fan. To help prevent this issue, place something in-between the fan blades, such as a toothpick.
Cleaning laptop keyboard
Like almost everything else on a laptop, a keyboard is also different from the standard computer keyboard. With many laptop keyboards the keys cannot be completely removed. Therefore, we suggest cleaning the keyboard by using the same damp cloth you used to clean the exterior case of the laptop. In addition, compressed air can be used to spray any dust, dirt, or hair from in-between the keys.
If you've spilt something onto the laptop keyboard (like a soda) that's causing the keys to stick and cleaning it does not help we suggest that you have the laptop repaired since the keyboard cannot be replaced.
Cleaning laptop mouse (touchpad)
Cleaning the laptop touchpad can help improve the look of the laptop and also many times will help improve the responsiveness of the touchpad. To clean the touchpad surface, use the same damp cloth used to clean the exterior of the laptop.
Cleaning LCD display
Additional information about cleaning LCD and flat panel displays can be found on our main cleaning page.
Cleaning internal laptop components
Cleaning the inside of a laptop computer can be a difficult task. However, in some situations, it may be necessary because of excessive dust and/or dirt buildup within the computer, such as on the processor's heatsink.
Unfortunately, however, because of the complexity often involved in disassembling the laptop to reach many of these areas, Computer Hope cannot provide this information online for every laptop ever made. If you believe after cleaning your computer that it is still overheating because of dust and/or dirt buildup, we suggest taking the laptop to an authorized repair center.

Overheating on hp g61-632nr

You can clean it up using canned air. If necessary, open the case before you clean it up. Please read the service manual before you open the laptop case/body:

Guide how to properly clean a dirty fan that overheats in acer aspire notebook

Remove the fan from laptop, and remove the dust build up from the fan blades. Next remove outer cover of fan and clean inner section of fan case. Reattach outer cover of fan case. Next clean surrounding area in laptop and than re insert fan in laptop.

Unless you know how to take a laptop apart and put it together again, I do not recommend trying this.

As for the Playtex Diaper Disposal gene problem I need more information on the problem before I can help with that one.

My dell computer keeps shutting down every 5 min or so. I cleaned th fan and still the problem happens. I bought this almost 4 and a half years ago.

You may have cleaned the fan but have you cleaned the metal cooler (heat sink) under the fan? Its better to remove the fan from the heat sink and hoover it out, then refit the clean fan. Also hoover out the power supply vents too. Also make sure any case vents are clear too. If you think overheating is the problem then run the pc with the case open and if it runs ok then overheating is the problem.

The laptop overheats and shuts off

In case you can open (I mean disasemble) the laptop do it and clean every air inlet - outlet. In case you can't use a soft brush and clean the inlet - outlet from the outer side. After that you may use CLEAN AIR in order to improve the cleaning effect (not before the brush because all the dust will go in the laptop). Leave the laptop some minutes to calm and check the results.

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post me a reply.

My laptop heats up and shuts down after a while . just started doing this, then turns on okay after an hour or so.

Either the cpu blower is not working or the the air ventilation openings are closed. Use a brush to clean up all the openings for air flow all over the laptop. If possible use clean air under pressure towards the air openingsin co-operation with the brush cleaning. In case of using air under pressure, leave the laptop at least one hour after the cleaning to relax.
Start the laptop and check the results. In case of the problem still exists, the problem is at the cpu blower. In order to get at this blower you must open the laptop's case. Since this is not so easy I suggest to get the laptop at a technician asking for cleaning and checking the cpu ventilation.
In case you are capable of opening the case or if you come up with a problem, don't hesitate to post me a reply.

Laptop shut down on its own

Classic case of overheating.

Turn over notebook and remove bottom covers. clean out heatsinks near the fan.

The fan usually looks very clean, but look inside the fan housing and you'll probably find a blanket of lint/dust completely blocking the air passageways (even if they look clean from the outside).

If you remove the heatsink off the chips make sure you put on new thermal paste.

Some models it is very easy to get to the fans, others you have to fully disassemble the notebook

You could also try cleaning it out from the outside with an aircompressor, just leave it off for a day in case the is any moisture in the aircompressor lines. This may fix it but if its really clogged, you will need to open the unit and manually clean it.
