I recently noticed that my GE window airconditioner has been leaking on the inside of my window. It has cause my new wooden windsill to turn black from the condensation dripping onto the sill. I did not...

Actually, you may have two issues. The drain hole may be clogged and the rear of the unit may not have enough downward tilt, to allow the water to flow to the rear of the drip pan and ultimately out thru the drain hole. The general rule of thumb is 1/4" to 1/2" rear downward tilt.

As far as the drain hole is concerned, it can be hard to find at times. Because the clog will often times blend in the drain hole. Patience & persistence are required in locating it. A pipe cleaner works well to clear the clog.

Troubleshooting the above should help to solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

My window air conditoner is leaking water inside and what can I do to prevent that?

Make sure the unit is tilted down at the rear at least 1/4" to 1/2" and that the drain hole in the drain pan, under the rear of the unit is not clogged. The drain hole can be hard to find, as clogs blend in with hole. So, be persistent in looking for it.

Hope this helped you Elaine. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Slings water out of the top where is drain on

The drain is in the rear of the air conditioner (outsid) so make sure the unit is tilted a few degrees toward the outside coil so that the collected water can be slung on the outdoor coil to make it more efficient as it should be.

GE Zoneline 2100 Air Conditioner won't drain condensed water

POSITION IN WINDOW SLIGHTLY TILTED BACK, IF ITS CLEAN!! IF NOT BEEN CLEANED AND I MEAN DISSASSEMBLED AND REALLY CLEANED OUT ITS NOT GONNA HELP TO TILT IT MUCH AS THE PASSAGES TO THE REAR CONDENSER COIL ARE CLOGGED, THE CONDENSER IS HOT AND EVAPORATES IT NORMALLY IS ALL IS CLEAN

Amana AP095R Portable Air Conditioner is dripping water constantly. It didn't use to do this. What's wrong here?

all air conditioners condense water .. the water is normally drained to the outside thru a hole near the outside bottom of the unit .. the unit has to be mounted so that it doesnt tilt inward .. the drain hole has to be cleaned once in a while ... if its clogged or if the unit is tilted inward then the water will drain inside the house .. less likely but possible is a cracked or damaged drip pan inside the unit ... thats a shallow pan under the condenser (cold) coil that captures the water and directs it toward the outside drain .. so check the tilt and clean the drain

How does condesate water drain out of the ge aem25dm a/c? is there any drain lines to hook up under the ac?

It drains from a formed tray on the evaporator side of the AC. Now if the drain is blocked or the AC or the air conditioner is not tilted slightly down on the outside the water will pool up in the front cold side evaporator tray. If all of those that I explained are ok then unplug the AC and remove it from the housing cover and clean the drain being careful not to get the electric fan motor windings wet as this will cause them to short out when turned back on. I PURCHASED AN A/C MODEL #ASH12ALS1 AT SAMS. BUT I CANNOT GET IT TO TILT DOWN ENOUGH FOR IT TO DRAIN. WHAT DID I DO WRONG IN THE INSTALLATION? DO YOU HAVE OTHER PICTURES THAT SHOW A MORE DETAILED WAY OF...

As long as the water is not coming inside you don't have a problem. Some air conditioners don't drip. They have a slinger ring on the outside fan. This picks up the water and throws it through the condensor helping to cool it and evaporate it. If you have water inside prop up the inside part with a book or something It has to tilt slightly towards the back. The other problem is it could have a blocked internal drain. Take off the outside cabinet and look. There is usually some kink of chanel for the water to get from front to back.

Thru wall GE A/C

Hi, If this is a new unit I would check the filter first and make sure it is clean. Also check and make sure it is slightly tilted to the outside. If its an older unit it probably needs cleaned. Window units naturally create water in the evaporator area. The water is suppose to drain to the back of the unit to the condensing area where the slinger ring on the condenser fan blade slings it into the condenser coil making it more efficient. There is usually a drain hole to drain excess water from the back of the unit. Any dirt in the pathway of this water or the wrong tilt will cause water to build up and drip or blow out the front. Anything touching the evaporator coil allowing water to run down the obstacle into the wrong area will cause the same thing. reduced air flow will cause the evap to freeze which could also cause a water problem.
