HP Laserjet 1012 does not have a driver for XP 64bit.
HP also does not have driver for Windows 7 32bit and 64bit with this particular printer.
They are urging their consumers to upgrade the printer(s) to a compatible operating system.


TIP: If you are going to install this printer to a Windows 7 operating system, try to using the Vista drivers and install it using the compatibility mode feature of Windows 7.

Have you tried getting a copy of the drivers from the HP wbsite and also check in add remove programs and remove any of the hp software for that printer before you try new drivers.

I had same problem and when I installed OKI B4350 (PCL) driver it started working fine.
Before I had OKI B4350(PS) driver installed and it gave me invalid data error everytime I've pressed print.

Hit Start, Run and type Regedit

Find the following HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows| CurrentVersion\ Explorer\User Shell Folders

In the right pane - see if these is any entries which has an F or any other alphabelts not C (your OS folder) modify data to C:\
