How to get rid of ads on my screen when I go to my in box in Yayoo mail

You can either temporarily hide the ads that keep popping up on your Yahoo Mail page or block them permanently. To know how, refer to the steps below.

To temporarily hide ads (for free email accounts):
1)Sign in to your Yahoo Mail account
2)When, while viewing your list of emails or a particular email, an ad pops up, you can see a right-facing arrow between your email and the advertisement. Click on this arrow.
3)The ad will get hidden temporarily.
(Important: This blocks the ads temporarily only and as soon as you perform the actions like refreshing the Yahoo Mail page, marking a particular email as spam, replying to an email, or just clicking on any of the sections in the navigation-menu located on the left of the page, a new ad may pop up again).

To permanently remove graphical and text ads:
Yahoo Mail has recently come up with "Yahoo Ad Free Mail" service to enable you to get rid of graphical and text ads on a permanent basis when viewing your Yahoo Mail account from a computer. You need to sign up for Yahoo Ad Free Mail account before starting using this service.
(Note: Before signing up for Yahoo Ad Free Mail account, please check if the service is available in your region. Also, even after subscribing to the service, the subscribers may still get the text ads that come up on Yahoo Mail on a mobile web browser and the text ads that come up in the "Basic Mail" interface of Yahoo Mail on a computer. To know what Basic Mail is, refer to the following Yahoo webpage: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/mail-for-desktop/basic-mail-sln5171.html)
To know more about Yahoo Ad Free Mail service, refer to the following Yahoo webpage:

Block Ads

advertisements are annoying to all of us. They do create revenue for sites, but most of the time ,they are of little importance to the user and all they do is nibble away at your bandwidth. Sometimes, they can show inappropriate content as well. We are going to look at ways to disable or at least hide the ads off the screen with pretty much any of the most used browsers.Ad Blocking In Firefox
Ads come in all forms and pop ups are one of the most annoying ways of which ads make their way on to the screen. Firefox, like most other browsers today, stops pop ups from appearing on the screen.
For blocking of advertisements, there is an extremely useful and well known add-on called Adblock Plus. Get it fromhttp://adblockplus.org/en/. Click on the Installation link to go to that page to download the add-on. You have to click on the Allow button on the right top of the Firefox window to permit the add-on to be downloaded and installed. Restart Firefox.
Once Firefox starts, choose Tools > Add-ons. Click on Options for the Ad block Plus add-on. Click on Filter > Add filter subscription.Use the drop down for Subscription title and choose the lists you want to add and click OK. Follow the steps to add additional subscriptions.Once added, click on Filters > Update all subscriptions. Click OK.
Ads should now be blocked by Firefox, and even if you do find some adsthat do make their way through the filters, right click on the image ofthe ad and click Adblock image…
Flash elements can also be disabled by using the Flashblock add-on forFirefox. This can be downloaded and installed from http://flashblock.mozdev.org. Flash elements will only work when you click on them.

Ad Blocking In Opera
Opera has a built in popup blocker and an ad blocking feature as well.Using the ad blocker is as simple as downloading a text file andputting in the right folder. Opera’s ad blocking works by referring toa file called urlfilter.ini. There are many users who keep regularlymaintained lists of ad hosts and domains.
One of the most famous one and most used ones is Fanboy’s Adblock List(www.fanboy.co.nz/adblock/) Click on the Install now link or visithttp://fanboy.co.nz/adblock/opera/urlfilter.ini. Save the file as it isto a folder and then move it to C:Documents andSettingsYour_User_IDApplication DataOpera_folderprofile. Linuxusers must copy to the .opera folder. When done, restart the browserand ad blocking will be enabled. Visit the site from time to time toupdate your ad block list.

Ad Blocking In Internet Explorer
Internet Explorer has been heavily criticized for letting popups andads run loose but it too has a 3rd party add-on that users candownload. It is called IE7Pro and can be downloaded fromwww.ie7pro.com. Click on the Download Free, download the installer andrun it. In the last few steps of the installation you will be askedwhether you want to enable spellchecking and if you want to setEasyHome as your homepage. Uncheck the boxes if you don’t. Click Nextand finish the installation.
Restart Internet Explorer and you will find an IE7Pro icon in thestatus bar below or a button for IE7Pro Preferences in the toolbarabove. Click it and then on AD Blocker. Enable Flash blocker to blockflash items from web pages. You can also add your own filters in the MyFilters tab. IE7Pro brings many more features than just ad blocking toInternet Explorer. Prefetching and mouse gestures are just some ofthese few features.

Universal Ad Blocking Across Windows
Ads can also be blocked across all browsers and applications running inWindows. This is done through a file called HOSTS that is located inC:WINDOWSsystem32driversetc. Like the urlfilter.ini list that wasused for Opera, similar lists are available for Windows. The listredirects domains to other domains or IPs. This way, none of the adscan be downloaded to your browser. Manual entries can be made byopening the file in a text editor. If you download a HOSTS file, copyit to the path mentioned above.
It is also a good idea to also have a spyware removal utilityinstalled—they not only block ads, but malware and trojans as well.Spybot (www.safer-networking.org) for example is one of such software.Keep it updated and run it from time to time and keep safe distancefrom possibly dodgy links and your PC should be just fine!

Can't load gmail

There can be several reasons why Gmail is not loading on your Dell XPS 8700 Desktop. Firstly, you need to make sure that you are using a browser compatible for using Gmail. The browsers that support Gmail are Google Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Safari.
(Note: Internet Explorer does not support "Desktop Notifications" feature while only Google Chrome supports "Gmail Offline" feature.)

If you are using a compatible browser but still unable to load Gmail, make sure that you are using a browser version compatible with your Windows version. To check this, you can refer to the respective Microsoft Support page of your Windows version. Following is the link for Microsoft Support Center:
http://support.microsoft.com/

If you are still unable to resolve the issue, you can try one-by-one the following solutions suggested by Google Support:

Solution 1:

A few programs like internet security apps, anti-virus, or a few firewall applications can prevent Gmail from loading. Some of the common examples include AVG, Avast!, McAfee, and Norton. If you are using any one of these, you can try disabling them temporarily and see if Gmail loads correctly. If it loads, contact the support team of the respective software causing the issue so that you can make necessary changes in its settings to support loading Gmail henceforth. In the meanwhile, you can enable the security program you previously disabled to keep your system security intact though this may disallow you to load Gmail till the changes in the settings are made.

If temporarily disabling one or more programs listed above do not resolve your issue, enable them promptly and try the next solution mentioned below.

Solution 2:

Have you added any extensions or add-ons to your browser recently? At times, such additions may also prevent Gmail from loading correctly. One quick way you can use to confirm if one or more extensions or add-ons are restricting Gmail from loading is to try using safe mode/ incognito/ private browsing mode of your browser. This will disable all the extensions added to your browser and help you to check if any one of them was causing issues for Gmail.

Note:
1) To use "No Add-on" mode of Internet Explorer, you can refer to the following link:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/how-browser-addons-affect-computer#1TC=windows-7
2) To use "Safe Mode" in Mozilla Firefox, you can refer to the following link:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode
3) To use "Incognito" mode in Chrome, you can refer to the following link:
https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95464?hl=en
4) To deal with add-ons or extensions in Safari, refer to the following link:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3230

If disabling extensions and add-ons helps Gmail to load properly, you can try going into the normal mode of your browser and disable add-ons or extensions one-by-one to check which one is causing the issue. If you are able to detect the one that is preventing Gmail from loading correctly, you may need to refer to the support page of the respective add-on for proper resolution.

If these solutions do not resolve your issue, refer to the following Google Support page to find some more solutions:
(Note: You need to select "No" each time for "Did that solve the problem?" on the following link to expand further solutions.)

Photos on craigslist

One of the useful features of Craigslist is that they allow you to upload up to eight digital photos to most classified ads for free.

Conveniently, they also allow the use of HTML code in the ad descriptions, which makes it possible for you to include an unlimited amount of photos hosted on external sites.

If you use the built-in upload tool, Craigslist will automatically resize the images for you.
If you host them on an external site, you will need to resize them yourself.

The resizing can be accomplished using HTML code.
Visit the Craigslist Web site and click the "post to classifieds" link Below.
http://www.craigslist.org/about/help/html_in_craigslist_postings/

Follow the prompts and enter in a title and description for your ad.
Click the "Add images" link when prompted if you want to upload some images with Craigslist's built-in uploading tool.

These will be automatically resized for you.
Continue reading if you want to add and resize your own images.

Go to your image host, such as Photobucket, ImageShack or Flickr, in a new browser window or tab and open the album containing the images you'd like to use.
Click or right-click on the images one at a time and choose the option (if necessary) to view the direct Web addresses for them.

This address is what you'll link to in the Craigslist ad. Type the following HTML code into the ad's Description box (a few lines below the text description you already typed in):
<img src="" height="" width="" />

Inside the "src" quotes, copy and paste the Web address for the first image you'd like to add to your ad.

Inside the "height" and "width" quotes, type in the height and width (in pixels) you'd like to resize it to.

For example:
<img src="http://www.site/image.jpg" height="200" width="300" />

Repeat the previous step for any additional images you'd like to add to your Craigslist ad.
When done, follow the prompts on the page to save and post your Craigslist ad.

Picasa 3 is the latest release of thesoftware from Google, and comes as a much amped up successor to Picasa2.7. Some features have been added, and some functions have beenchanged. Overall, it is an improvement, with a markedly better upload(a lot less failures), some nifty new features, but a slightly buggingand confusing interface. It is a pain to add pictures, the automaticscanning goes haywire on your hard drive (we recommend not settingPicasa 3 loose on your hard drive to scan the folders automatically),and adding folders manually mysteriously fails from time to time. However, the hosting facility is one of the best free ones around, sothis is taking you through some of the interesting stuff you can dowith the software.
[
View All Portraits:
This is a really interesting feature inPicasa. You can view all the photos across all the albums with faces. To the left of the search bar, on the top, click on the face icon.Click on the icon again to get out of this mode, or click on ‘back toview all’. This is a filter, the other filter for photographs availableis all the pictures that are starred.

Upload A Slideshow To YouTube:
Select the ‘Movie’ button in the bottombar of Picasa. The first slide will be a text slide to introduce theslideshow. Rearrange the photos, add captions, select a music, selectthe transitions, and preview the slideshow a few times. Once you aredone, click on save movie, and then use the YouTube upload button inthe interface to put the movie on YouTube. Needless to say, you need tohave a Google account and an Internet connection for this feature towork.

Sync Picasa3 Software And Web Albums:
On the top right corner, above the albumor folder is the sync button. Using this feature automatically savesall changes you have made to your copy of the album to the version ofthe album on Picasa. This works for changes to the file, the tags, andphotos added or deleted to the album. This does not work forre-ordering the photos around in the album and changes made to the filenames.

Touch Up Photos:
This is used to remove spots from thesurface of the lense, artefacts caused due to dust particles or waterdroplets, and scratches and dust from old photographs.

Double-click on an image once it isadded to an album. Under the ‘Basic fixes’ tag, select ‘Retouch’. Usethe ‘Brush size’ slider to select a brush size. Ideally, you shouldselect a brush size a little larger than the size of the artefact youare trying to remove. Click once on the blot, and click to a similarplace elsewhere in the picture. The smaller the brush size, the lessnoticeable the patch up will be. Hovering over different parts of thepicture, you should see the blot getting covered up. You can undo a badpatch in this window itself. Once you are done fixing everything, clickon apply.
If you want to undo your changes, you cannot automatically redo them.

Screencapture Album:
As long as Picasa is running, taking ascreenshot of the screen using the [Print Screen] button will save theimage and add it to Picasa.

Improve All Your PhotosThis feature works to different degreesof effectiveness for different photos, but is one of those buttons thatlooks like magic. If you trust Google more than your photographyskills, select an album go to Picture > Batch Edit > I’m feelinglucky. There is no explanation for exactly what this does to yourphotos, but some photos were improved, some were horribly damaged. Copyall your files to another folder before you try this though, beforesomething goes horribly wrong.

CollageThe collage view in Picasa is ainteresting little feature to give previews for your Web albums. On topof the folder or album, next to the play slideshow button, is the MakeCollage button. Click on this button, and you will be taken to thecollage window. The default collage option is the picture pile, withthree border settings, no border, white border, and instant cameraborder. If your pictures are captioned, the captions will show up nextto the photos in the collage. There are five other collage optionsavailable, mosaic, frame mosaic, grid, contact sheet and multipleexposure. The mosaic arranges pictures in blocks of random sizes. Theframe mosaic displays one image in the centre, and frames it with theother photos. The grid and contact sheet have cells of equal sizedimages, and the multiple exposure mosaic is a strange option tosuperimpose all the images in an album on top of one another. Do notuse this option even by mistake in an album or folder with a lot ofphotos unless you want to crash your computer.

Search For Photos By Colour:
This is an experimental feature inPicasa 3, that lets you search for all the photos with a color scheme.Google searches for Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple and BWphotos. We wish they would have included a colour picker for thisfeature. Go to Tools > Experimental, and search for and click acolour. The orange search returns everything from red to yellow. Thegreen and blue searches are most accurate. The black and white searchesreturns all pale and grey colors, not photos that are strictly blackand white.

Customise The Bottom ToolbarPicasa 3 allows you to remove the rarelyused features from the bottom toolbar. Go to Tools > Configurebuttons, then remove, add or re-order the buttons as per yourrequirements and save the settings.

Get Rid Of Duplicate FilesTo get rid of duplicate files, go toTools > Experimental > Show duplicate files. Then select one copyof the files and press the delete button.

Copy protect your photosTo automatically add a watermark to allthe photos you upload to Picasa, go to Tools > Options and thenselect the ‘Web albums’ tab. Check the ‘Add a watermark for all photouploads’ checkbox and edit the text in the field. The photos uploadedto Picasa will have the watermark, but the photos on your disk will beuntouched.

Adding A Watermark To All Photos:
To automatically add a watermark to allthe photos you upload to Picasa, go to Tools > Options and thenselect the ‘Web albums’ tab. Check the ‘Add a watermark for all photouploads’ checkbox and edit the text in the field. The photos uploadedto Picasa will have the watermark, but the photos on your disk will beuntouched.
