Question about Yamaha RX-V463 Receiver

1 Answer

How do I connect my Yamaha RX-V463 surround sound system to an analog tv? The tv only has the three RCA jacks for audio and video. the RX-V463 has many jacks, and the manual is no help. the manual does show the connections needed, but it doesn't tell me where on the back of the RX unit to connect them.

Actually, the Quick Start Guide on page 6 of the manual shows the TV connection.

Consider that the TV is simply a visual element in your entertainment system and the rest will sound easy.

Run a single RCA cable from the receiver to the TV's Video IN so you can use its menus and view whatever video comes into the receiver.

Manage whatever audio you want to hear in HI-FI directly from its source to the receiver and NOT washed through the inferior audio electronics and speakers of the TV.

I cannot figure out how to connect the Yamaha natural sound av receiver rx-v463 to the TV. I cannot get sound out of the receiver. What cords do I need?

If you want to listen your TV on your Stereo system thru your receiver,
** you need to connect "Audio Output " RCA jacks or "Optic cable output" of your TV
** to "AUX input " or "Any input" of your receiver ( except Phone ) or "Optic Cable input"
** than just switch to respective mode on RECEIVER corresponding your RCA or Optic connection...
There you go..Your TV sound is on the Receiver..

Take care and please

I have hooked up my dish, yamaha receiver, CD player, blueray player and have surround sound for everything but the TV, Help!

Usually, unless the TV show is being broadcast itself in surround sound, the surround decoder in the receiver will default to front only sound on TV shows. When a TV show says that it is in surround sound, the receiver will decode it. I think the Law and Order series in broadcast in surround.
Hope this helps,

I dont know how to connect the wii to my rx-465 receiver.

The Wii AV cable should have a red/white pair of Audio Output jacks on it.
Check out pg. 8 of the Wii manual: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/downloads/WiiOpMn_setup.pdf
Connect the red/white RCA plugs from the AV cable to a line level audio input on your receiver. If you use AUX IN, then select AUX IN on the INPUT selector switch. You should then hear the sound from the Wii through your receiver/home theater system.

I want the tv sound to go through my yamaha rx-v363 receiver

You can do a couple of things depending on your unspecified TV and/or cable box:

For vanilla TV stereo (at best) audio: if the TV has RCA audio out jacks, run them to DTV/CBL or TV input.

For cable box (potentially multichannel) audio, if your cable box has a digital coaxial or optical audio out, run it to one of the digital in's on the receiver.

Connect the wii cables to the TV/SAT IN on the receiver. Then connect a video cable of your choice from the receiver "MONITOR OUT" to the input of your choice on the TV.

How to use sap with a rx-v463?

the trick is, it has NOTHING to do with your receiver, and EVERYTHING to do with your TV, you need to choose SAP on the TV not the stereo. That will send the SAP sound to the stereo you are playing the sound through.

No audio from cable through surround sound

you have to go to the setup for the TV audio and change it to audio out, not speakers.

This receiver does not have video conversion capabilities. In the owners manual it mentions this. So HD in = HD out. Analog in = analog out on the video portion
