On my Timex T53722 the bottom of the display is cut off and the Contact mode is getting erratic. It has a new battery.

A lot of watch manufacturers use the American style date layout of Month/Day/Year. Try this. Looking at the watch press and hold the bottom right SIDE button for 3 seconds. It should enter setting mode where the seconds display will flash. Press the Right FACE button once. It should switch to the Hour display flashing. Press the same button again to go to minutes and them again to go to the date display.
Repeated pressing of the top Right SIDE button changes the numbers upwards, (1,2,3,4), and the Left FACE button changes the numbers downwards, (4,3,2,1). Press the Bottom right SIDE button once to finish and go back to the normal display.

To set the time on your Timex 1440 Watch, please follow these directions:

1. Press and hold MODE (Upper left button)
(HOURS will flash and you'll be in Alarm Mode).

2. Press MODE again to enter TIME mode.
(SECONDS digits will flash.)

3. Press ADJUST (bottom right button) to set SECONDS to zero.

4. Press START/STOP (upper right button) to select MINUTES

5. Press ADJUST to change

6. Repeat to set Hours, Date, Month, and Day of the week.
(Go through 12 hours to set AM or PM)

7. Press MODE when finished

8. To display DATE from TIME display, press START/STOP

9. With DATE displayed, press and hold START/STOP, then press ADJUST to change display between DATE-MONTH

10. With TIME displayed, press and hold ADJUST, then press MODE to switch between 12 and 24 hour format.

mcdevito75 here, The 2 buttons needed to set your Timex are the MODE and SET buttons, press MODE and see the display fashing, now press set to set each function, press mode after setting each function to move onto the next function, when done, press mode again for steady display. mcdevito75 here, For now, you need to know 2 buttons, the MODE and SET buttons, First press the MODE button, you may have to hold it in 2--3 seconds, see the display Blinking, now press the SET button for each function, (hour, minute etc). press MODE after each function is set, after all is set Press MODE for steady display. To change between 12 & 24 hour display, press the mode button (bottom left) and then the bottom right button to change format. Press mode until normal display is achieved.

You will find them on the module itself.
So after replacing the battery look on the PCB (printed circuit board) for the letters"AC" and "VSS". Adjacent to these markings there should be little contact points (probably gold or silver looking in colour)
Use a paper clip or similar and bridge (short) these two points simultaneously. Please rate my solution.

Hold down the adjust button bottom right then press the mode button top left you will notice the a or p that stands for am/pm will disappear & reappear. If you have an a or p on your display then you are out of military time.
