i,d suggest trying the laptop on an external monitor firstly.
this will eliminate motherboard fault.
then if it displays fine on the external monitor.
possibility of Faulty Inverter Or CFL Tube.

SOURCE: Advent 7113 doesn't detect mains
It is highly posible that the jack in your laptop where you plug the main dapter is making a false contcat due to a problem in the welding of its connectors to the main board or to corrosion. Check if the rentral plug is not loose or if the plugs seems to be loose when you plug it.
If it is so, you need some expert technician to solve the problem by re weilding it or replacing it.

After researching all the information online, I have put up the maximum possible detailed steps to help you out:
Your Advent computer uses the latest recovery system that doesn't require any CDs or DVDs to restore your PC to it's original factory condition.
1) Restart your Computer.
2) Press F10 repeatedly until the message "Starting System Recovery" is displayed.
3) The recovery will load and display a menu of options:
(a) Non-destructive recovery: this option will restore Windows, supplied applications, and drivers. This option will not destroy your documents or programs. These will be backed up along with the registry. These are restored at the end of the recovery process.
To access the recovery options below that erase all data from the computer, click the Advanced button.
(b) System Recovery - No format: this will reinstall Windows®, supplied applications and drivers. It will move your files to a folder called "My old disk structure". Any applications (except those supplied) will need to be reinstalled.
(c) System Recovery - Quick format: this option will erase your hard drive including your personal files. Windows, supplied applications and drivers will be reinstalled.
4) Select the Non-destructive recovery option and press Next.
5) You will be informed about System Restore in Windows, click Yes.
6) The recovery will begin. Once this is complete click Restart.
Here are some additional information:
a) Press the ALT and D keys at the Windows style recovery menu options to access a command prompt. This will allow access to C: drive.
b) The command prompt will default to c:\minint\system32 where you can run a variety of tools including CHKDSK.EXE.
c) For more information on these options, please read the Advent recovery trouble-shooter.
Advent recovery trouble-shooter:
If a user is experiencing recovery problems on an Advent PC, then try to follow these steps.
Note: These steps will remove all personal data and all applications installed after the PC was purchased. Where possible ensure that all data and personal files are backed up BEFORE trying these destructive diagnostic steps.
1) Check the integrity of the recovery CD, or the update CD.
2) It is possible to verify the integrity of the recovery CD, or the update CD from within the Recovery programme.
a) Boot from the recovery C.
b) At the ‘Press R to display system recovery options’, press ‘R’.
c) Once in the System Recovery screen, press ALT + D to access the WinPE command prompt.
d) Type in Xcopy D:\*.* /E /V C:\ and press Enter.
e) D:\ is the CD ROM drive letter
C:\ is the HDD
/E copies everything
/V verifies the data with a CRC check.
f) If there is an error with the CD, then you will get the message:
File creation error – Data error (cyclic redundancy check).
g) If there are no errors, then you will be left at a prompt again.
3) If Windows® is accessible, then boot from the recovery CD.
4) At the ‘Press R to display system recovery options’, press ‘R’.
5) Once in the System Recovery screen, press ALT + D to access the WinPE command prompt as below:
6) Type COPYSI and hit Enter. This will unhide the user's smartimage (this may take a few minutes to complete).
7) Return to Windows® & copy the contents of the C:\Update CD\ folder to CD (N.B. Do not copy the ‘Update CD’ folder itself). Ask the user to label this ‘UPDATE CD’.
8) Start with the recovery CD ROM in the CD drive.
9) At the ‘Press R to display system recovery options’, press CTRL + BACKSPACE to get the hidden menu as below:
10) Choose option:4 (Clear the partition table of drive 0x80). Once you have selcted this, you will be returned to the Press 'R' screen.
11) Choose option:5 (Erase the Master Boot Record of drive 0x80). Once you have selcted this, you will be returned to the Press 'R' screen.
12) Choose option:7 (Create a primary partition on drive 0x80). Do not restart the machine during this process. Option 7 may sit for up to 10 minutes with a flashing cursor as it creates the partition. If the HDD LED is flashing, then you know that the process is proceeding.
13) Once the HDD partition has been created you will be returned to the ‘Press R to display system recovery options’ screen. Press ‘R’.
14) The recovery should go straight into a full destructive recovery, and will ask for the update CD which we have created.
