Hi there, please use this option to restore you computer settings so the pictures will be back to normal.Restart your computer and press F8 and select " last known good configuration " and follow the steps. The computer will restart when it is finish and the computer should be restore to its original settings which mean the problem should no longer exist.

The stand of my E173FPs monitor is broken. What can I do?

Sorry to hear that the stand had broken on your monitor.
many times there is a mounting in the center of the monitor back that accepts a standard 4 screw mounting, which almost any brand monitor will fit on, many of these type stands will adjust in height and also sometimes rotate to a portrait if you should like to read documents with the narrow side to the top.rotated 90 deg. some monitors do not have this option the mount is called (VESA mounting holes, 100mm (Behind attached base plate) but eBay is a great course for this type of part. I should have one of the Dell original mounts in my older parts area. but i see (Problem with Dell E197FP LCD Monitor) and (E173FPs) both in this unsolved problems, and knot knowing exactly the broken area, not sure of all you need to repair the broken area in question. Sprint6@zoominternet.net for personal help with this unit.

I have a 50" Plasma

Hi, the aspect ratio is set incorrectly for the source material or the screen is simply set to 4:3 aspect (old TV size) manually. There will be a menu function or an aspect button on the remote for doing this. Set it to auto which is usually good enough for most viewing though the ratio may change during adverts and back again for the film on tv watching. This can be annoying so when on tv mode observe the ratio set when the film is on and manually set this ratio, usually 16:9. The display will normally tell you the ratio setting at the point of change so you can do this. I hope this helps.

Monitor screen display stretched center but squashed/narrow edges

On the monitor itself, I am guessing this is a desktop? There are buttons for adjustment. Look for the menu button around the bezel of the monitor and press it. Scroll through the settings for the default setting and press that. Once the default settings are made for the monitor, then you can go to the graphics settings available through windows to get the resolution straightened out.

LCD monitor has a black slash where no color shows

Sadly its a crack in the screen. Laptops take a lot of abuse no matter how careful you are with them. The fact that they are moved 6-10 a day makes them very susceptible to damage.

Acer 19167W flat screen

Depending on the application you are viewing the picture in you can shrink the application window. You could reduce the size of the viewable area but that defeats the purpose of the wide screen which is to provide a better viewing experience (to quote the marketing types). It sounds like....since the wider screen really has nothing to do with your picture size....you might want to adjust your picture size independent of screens and applications. There are a variety of free products out there that can do this...and some are really nifty...perhaps better than the software you might now be using.

Faulty display on screen

Your monitor has a fault in the pincushion correction circuit. Most likely a bad solder connection, a failed diode or capacitor. I recommend you have a repair facility fix this one.
