The rubber tube which leads the gas to go into the oven, might be filled with dirt or there might be a leak else the igniter might not work.

In this case, you should replace the igniter. Call the customer support and ask for a replace.

    thank you for your response
however the igniter does work gas flows to the broiler
there is a aluminum tube going from the valve to the tube which the gas flows through no rubber tube

check for any dust in that aluminum tube or call for customer support for replace if that doesn't works.

try that link in my previous reply to solve.

Thank you again. We will get back to you.

tried cleaning the tube, no dirt, could it be the valve that controls the gas going to the burner?
could it be the temp range?
The glow plug comes up to bright orange on the bottom, the broiler does work well so the gas is flowing though

Our broiler, and burners work great. Oven itself has an electric pilot lite that's working but not heating up the rest of the oven. Any suggestions?

I can only assume from your description you mean to say you have a gas range
your seeing an orange glow from the ignitor but your not getting proper heat.
well io would goto
appliancepartspros.com
type in your model number
you are looking for the BAKE IGNITOR
that should glow almost white hot,
or if you know how you can check it with an amp probe
it should be between 2.8 and 3.6 to properly operate your gas valve

Broiler on top works but oven wont ignite

OK, it is likley that the oven ignitor isn't working and needs to be replaced. To verify if this is the problem, when you turn on the oven to BAKE and set the temp at say, 350. Watch through the window, (or you can have the door open). Look at the bottom, back, center and see if you see a bright orange glow appearing under the bottom panel.

If you don't, that is why the oven won't lit the gas. There is an ignitor for both the broiler burner at the top and for the bake burner in the oven compartment.

It might be possible that your oven uses the same ignitor for both the broiler and bake burner tubes, so you could swap them if you wish to confirm that is the problem before you go and order/buy a new one.

Sometimes the ignitor burns out half way through but because it still lits/glows, people think it's OK, but it won't get hot enough to signal the gas valve to open and allow gas to ignite and get the oven cooking.
If you want to see a line drawing and a parts list showing the ignitor(s), go to searspartsdirect.com and enter in the model number of your oven and click on the links shown.

Hope this helps and best regards!

Oven/Broiler Igniters for KitchenAid range KGST307

Oven bake ignites usually have lifetime 5-7 years. If igniter glows but gas not came in - replace igniter. Same with broil igniter.

Maytag gas oven mgr5770abb Does not light when I try to use oven. Broiler works fine. When I try to turn on the oven, the broiler igniter does not glow. If the bottom igniter was bad, wouldn't the top one...

first I would check to see if you have power (120v) at the bake igniter..when you set in to bake...use a multmeter..(when you turn on the oven to bake only the bottom igniter will come )

good luck be safe

let me know if I can help
